  3. Britain never had the atom bomb it had theories and science in regards the field but not actual working technology that would allow them to engineer such a system. Building the atom bomb required advanced material science, advanced chemistry/physics, control system engineering, high output manufacturing and extremely deep pockets to keep attempting it over and over with hundreds of failure points.

  5.  @willowsloughdx  The Spitfire and Mustang were still cutting edge even against the Jet engined fighters that the Germans had. They were more maneuverable in battle and could stay in the air much longer. The P51 Mustang had a top speed of 700 kmh and a combat range of 1200 km.

  10. I suspect Germans greatest successes came about from that madness. The audacity to carryout the war in the first place probably what caught everybody off balance but the moment the US and UK got its feet squarely planted on the ground both Germany and Japan were finished.

  11. I do not think that was the case. Nazi Germany was a delusional socialist culture that assumed it could just assert its flawed ideas and everything would be OK. Hitler himself went all in as he was playing for broke which meant it was worth failing to achieve what he wanted. This delusion thinking was part of the whole culture of Germany at the time. It infiltrated everything from military tactics through to engineering and weapons systems. This is the exact same culture that tried to wage global war without a legitimate fuel source to act as a foundation for their industrial system or military forces. I doubt that Nazi Germany thought they were going to lose the war.

  12.  @jasoncuculo7035  Hitler memo do not change the fact the whole culture was delusional and such things as weapons technology was part of that delusion. Another delusion was them thinking they could take the atlantic with submarines and fighting a war with out fuel resources. You may think that there was some internal secret conspiracy that they knew they could not win but the reality was that the culture as a whole was deluded.

  13. It was just nonsense and never was going to be able to achieve anything. Rockets were effectively the least effective weapon in WW2 and were just glorified artillery without the ability to saturate a battle space.

  14. The B-29 was based on US aerospace engineering from the early 1930s and ME-264 was designed in the late 1930s.

  15. The US would have lost 1 million troops in Japan but would have completely laid waste to the place. The 1 million troops is based on previous performance of the US military but that was with rules. In the invasion of Japan the US would have started to change its rules and it also would have been directing assets from Europe to Japan. The US would have had losses no doubt but it probably would have been a lot less than the 1 million once the US started to take off the gloves. The US would have probably destroyed Japan in about 6 months.

  18. That is all nonsense. The US already had its rocket and missile programs in place before the Nazis were arrested and take away from Europe so as to not cause more problems. The Nazis had nothing to do with the moon that was all NASA and Uncle Sam.

  19. The reality is that it takes lots of time to build the infrastructure to carry out such an invasion. Germany realized that it simply did not have the resources to do it them self to invade the UK. Japan had the same problem. Only the US had the resources to conduct large scale invasions in WW2 and carried out several of them through out the war in both Europe/africa and the pacific.
