"because of the mishandling of money by corrupted people"  I would have to disagree with this.  People bought houses they simply could not afford to pay in the long term because they did not have stable jobs that would keep up with the payment process.  Now this was a problem but it still was not the problem on its own.  Society as a whole allowed its self to become over debt. This again was not the problem on its own.  Central banks were to easy with the whole credit and money cycle that they did not follow their own advice. again this alone was not the problem.  More than likely what the problem was that everything it the fan at once all the conditions were there to create this problem and all it took was the match to light the fuel.  I would say in the last 100 year there would have been may be 7 events that were on this magnitude but only 3 really really took traction and only two would have been mismanaged.  I could really expand what I have stated here "tenfold".
