@inappropriatern8060 So you think China with a failing demography, majority food imports, majority oil imports and a tyrannical government is not going to collapse. SO you think they are OK and will come out fine?
4
There is nothing in Chinese culture that is greater than Western Liberal philosophy. There are lots of interesting things about Chinese historical culture but they are not better.
3
@moar schtuff I would suggest for people to read Milton Friedman as well.
3
He is easily worth $100 per year when you consider the other junk you could spend that $100 per year on such as Marvel movies.
2
@OverlyGassed Just so we are clear in what you are saying do you believe that AI will be come a consumer?
2
America is not going to have less people it is going to have more people and more consumerism. The idea of cheap mass manufactured Chinese plastic products is about to go away and there maybe a move towards quality products but that does not mean the US is declining in population.
2
Neither Russia nor China are market economies. They are top down structures and will not work well together.
1
@tomaszzieba315 That approach will not work and will fail.
1
How do you expect that AI to buy things as the economies are in collapse?
1
@jmc5335 Do you see racism in everything?
1
@T_Dot94 So what exactly do you think is nonsense. Do you think Russia and China do not have demographic issues? Do you think Germany has a population basis for consumption and if not what can they do about it?
1
@Aloha What you really mean when you say there is something off about him is that you do not like what he is putting forward.
1
What on earth are you talking about?
1
What on earth does any of that actually mean. I think I know what you are aiming at but it is confusing.
1
AAA means nothing and the US current rating is AA+.
1
Sam was fine and some of you must have issues. Sam got out of the way and was not arguing on every small detail like autistic people want.
1
American is exceptional and there is nothing you can do to counter that. It has a legal and philosophic frame work that enable it to thrive economically. The globalized world order was not a good economic system for the US and actually caused many US industries to be outsourced and out competed by countries that the US helped to prop up. You are being naive if you think that the US withdrawal from the world order is not going to have a massive impact.
1
@Maynard0504 America rules the world and there is nothing you can do about it. The Chinese and Russian economies would not survive without the US.
1
If you live in the US you are not going to see those troubles. If you live in China or Russia you are going to see those troubles. If you live in Europe you will see a decline but probably not a collapse and if you live in the UK you are just going to see a static society very similar to today.
1
@EdmundKempersDartboard It is not just that they are rich that will enable them to thrive. It is the fact they have certain characteristics about their culture and geography that enable them to do so. Take China for example it has no natural resources, imports the vast majority of its food and Energy and the culture is not creative either. They could have 100 trillion in cash reserves and it would no change any of that.
1
Let us look at the facts Germany is about to go through a demographic crisis in the next decade and there simply is no country near them that can help to repopulate through immigration because all the countries surrounding have the same issues. Sometimes the truth hurts and people do not want to hear it. Do you think the solution to Germans lack of consumption will be exports to the US?
1
@Ali ahmad Pasoon Peters argument is that automation cannot buy products or be a consumer. Maybe in some future society were half the population is robotics that are the same as people that may occur but it is not going to be part of CNC machines spitting out 1000 widgets.
1
So you expect this magical AI to be a consumer and buy things?
1
It is not about the whole planet dissolving but pointing out that the world is about to change.
1
@QuizmasterLaw Most of the world is not like Britain or Japan. Japan really only become an economic powerhouse after WW2 with the American led world order. America is like the best bits of British culture such as free speech, right to bear arms, liberty as a public philosophy and so on. The iron is that the ideas that America are founded upon which emanate from Britain are not actually part of British modern culture. Both Britain and Japan are regional powers that do not have the geography or culture to enable them to become a superpower like the US. The old empires were not a super power.
1
Freedom of Speech and the Right to Bear Arms are the two fundamental aspects of a liberal society that allows America to flourish and lead the world.
1
@OverlyGassed Well if AI cannot become a Consumer how is it going to solve the problems for the failing demography's?
1
What exactly do you think happens to all these countries once they reach demographic crisis.
1
You ca believe your own hype all you want but the writing is on the wall.
1
Every fertile women in China today could go out and get pregnant and have 8 kids and China is still going to have a demographic collapse. For somebody that studies growth and populations it is obvious what is going happen. Once a population starts to decline it means their economy starts to become turbulent which puts more economic pressure on the very women that are need to have children.
1
@prof.higgins3154 So as an academic then you must have good analytical skills and be able to understand the concept of China failing demographics.
1
What you think Russia will all of a sudden magically get babies to drop from the sky when Putin leaves? "we will need fewer people in the future to power the world’s industrial engine" so you think this new industrial engine will use automation that will consume products? Tell us if there are fewer people who will buy the products?
1
If you live outside the US a manual worker is not middle class. If you live in the US then that manual worker is middle class. A plumber in America on the average income will live a life that no European can even dream about.
1
Stavross 169 That is your belief but do not expect other people to agree with you and go along with it. You are free to lead by example to teach people that they do not need the modern world but do not get angry when people do not follow you as they love their modern conveniences and standard of living.
1
It depends on where you live. The US will be fine other places not so much.
1
@synthesizerneil Why does everything require push back let me guess you do not agree with it.
1
They are both academics. Have you never conversed with academics?
1
So how does VR and Automation buy things for consumption.
1
So what if he is a WEF member. The conspiracy theory nutbags just imagine all these things in their heads.
1
China, Russia and EU do not have steady populations they have massive declining populations that do not have a consumer base.
1
So you think China and its demographics can be explained by your opinion?
1
@TheCommonS3Nse Marx is full of crap and offers nothing. Capitalism does not require population growth to strive it requires a replacement population for the culture of the region to survive. WIthout that replacement population there is nobody and there will be economic decline.
1
Unless those leaders can rally and start having sex to make the babies then there is nothing they can do about it. Germany has a population demographics imbalance that cannot be solved by leaders. The solutions should have been introduced 50 years ago and China should have done the same before they decided to murder over 100 million of their people.
1
You think a population collapse is experiencing significant problems? It can cause the collapse of a whole culture and a decline that then cannot be stopped.
