War of the worlds worked because it was in context of the Nazi era and it was also an accident and was not intended to happen. The UK did a series of shows about 15 years ago on tv and they made them appear like documentaries and people thought they were real. I came in half way through a show and thought it was something that was really happening. The public were outraged at it.

Mother is pure trash of the highest order and people would have walked out of that 40 years ago because it would have been trash. Films from the past still have an effect on people today if they are well made and if they are not well made they will not have an effect. The War of the worlds broadcast caused confusion because people thought it was also an attack from Germans because they only heard have the broadcast and had no context to what was happening. The fact you think this was because people were innocent and stupid shows that you have no context to the period and what was happening. Even other members of the media who came in halfway through the broadcast thought the US was under attack in real time.

The oscars decline started when they awarded Halle berry and Denzel washington both main categories. Denzel is a great actor but that was not his best performance or even close. That was the first really big act of virtue signalling. I remember somebody telling me about Halle Berry performance before I seen the movie and I asked her what was she like and she said well she got her clothing off a lot.

Plenty of great movies have no real target audience. The difference with modern film is that they are trying to control the target audience.

Modern singing involves weird voice tones and lyrics that make no sense. Most songs have engineered voices and if you listen you realize that a human singing sounds and performs nothing like that.

The reason for that is that creativity in culture has been in decline for decades. This has happened before just before WW1.

3 is not a bad film just not as good as the previous films.

Every year there was about 20 very good movies with one or two exceptional movies being released. And every year there was about 100 films that were well made that would entertain but would not be considered great movies. As it stands right now you are lucky to get an exceptional movie every decade and we are long overdue one. And maybe three or four good movies every decade. The last really good Hollywood movie was Wolf of Wall Street and everything after that was not as good.

It really depends on what people mean by fame. There are plenty of artists who have a public persona that is liked and loved but there are very few people that know who they are. They could walk down the street and you would never know them. Some of them may even be introverts.
