Top Gun is Paramount and they also have the mission impossible films coming up. And they have a few other hits on their hands this year. But never underestimate these studio who are not just glorified distributors to screw things up
1
It would never make any money back so no imagination needed.
1
The people making these things probably sat around and thought that this was a good idea. At their bonding corporate workshops they were probably saying things like "great place to work great place to watch".
1
If DC had half a brain they would have built up their Batman/gotham universe. Instead they went and did the clueless thing that was rushed and stank of corporate pensioners in charge.
1
Everyone of these movie is about saving the world. Imagine every movie was a farming movie that always ended with a plague of locusts.
1
Do you really believe they spent $200 million on that film? In modern films the studio are lucky if they get to make $1 for every $8 of box office performance. Chinese market is probably like $1 for every $50 of box office. This is one of the reasons why there is a mad rush to move to streaming but they then have a problem that of struggling to make enough content to keep people paying the $10 per month. If you have Prime, Netflix, HBO, Apple and whatever else comes along you will soon be at nearly $100 per month.

Remember Shazam was made in a different era and its diversity felt like it was just tacked on but never got in the way. The next versions of the film may be a lot more aggressive and make it the foundation of the show and its entertainment will be replace with a really bad set of watery weak characters. Now countering what I am saying it has the previous director so it may still be good.
1
@TheStarMachine2000 Shazam was not made in the thick of a woke movie industry. It was made before it went completely woke. Shazam is a remnant of a pervious movie industry.
1
The movie was crap at best.
1
Imagine Amazon for a lot less money got a good creative team together and made their own original show. It could be the next game of thrones or Star Wars. The sad part is they have no imagination.
1
Elizabeth Warren as a native American burlesque dancer.
1
They may not actually do that but the impression they have given to date is they will do that. Even at the end they were not calling captain america by his name they were calling him caps. Why did they not just build up falcon instead of using the character to push their political agenda?
1
It is not just Movies that are terrible but it also Music, art, industrial design and politics. Right now the west is in a period of low creativity.
1
While it maybe a thrill ride for you it does not appeal to the general cinema audience. Most Marvel movie fans would rather sit at home and watch the movie on their phones under the blankets at night time while their parents could not care that the child is on devices 24/7.

Vikings would never take slaves, eat them and torture them.
1
@avk2762 Vikings had brutal ritualistic practices. https://sciencenordic.com/forskningno-society--culture-sweden/vikings-abused-and-beheaded-their-slaves/1435805 https://www.medievalists.net/2020/03/cannibalism-icelandic-sagas/ https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/the-vengeance-of-ivarr-the-boneless-4002654/

Most of you simply do not have a clue as to what is going on here. AT&T who owned Warner let it go because they were $180 billion of debt even though the company is only worth $130 billion. Warner simply does not have any money and on top of that they are now in a period of expensive capital and high inflation. Warner and Disney may not even exist at the end of this decade and what we are about to see is going to make the 1930s depression era look like a summer camp. China is about to fail and their leadership know this which will prompt them to do desperate things. There is not going to be a global cinema market at the end of this decade.
1
They did not need to read the comics to have an understand of the tone and how to make a movie.
1
They have a whole bloody galaxy to explore for story and what do they do they go back to the main story and try and insert a new women into the story.
1
I think the characters and their individual stories are boring. Baptista character was ok and I could tolerate that. The whole story arc with the smuggler being the good girl and the security officer being the bad buy is boring as hell. The other characters make no sense at all. What on earth was the guy with the cutting machine suppose to be other than muscular?
1
I suspect the directors had very little control of the movie and that executives really were shaping it hence why modern big budget films are so bad.
1
AT&T is $180 billion in debt and clearly decided to off load one of their liabilities. The studios have destroyed the movie industry at both the theater and rental level of the industry. Every step that they have made has been one disaster to another disaster. They first of all participated in the destruction of the theater industry, Then blamed the streaming industry that they then all go into and destroy. They have not produced a film star in 25 years even though there is lots of talent out there that could easily be built into a movie star.
1
@l3ucl1 I think Latinx means gender neutral latinos. I could be wrong though.
1
It was a stupid corny story for simple people that get entertained by simple stuff.
1
@firesnakex8 No the multiverse is going to get very confusing especially for the casual movie fan.
1
The movie was a big pile of crap.
1
You would be better moving into the movie business and trying to team up with like minded producers and directors. Start with lower budget movies but make the projects character and story driven. People are crying out for this type of productions.
1
Nope. They need to keep Batman simple. If they want to do say a TV show where those that watch understand it is not part of the wider DC movies that would be fine. In the way that Marvel destroyed their key franchise with end game they really have nowhere else to go. And with their new determined message they will sink even faster.
1
I took my whole family, Children's friends to the first Wonder Woman film and we all pigged out on lots of food. It cost me a lot more than $15 and it was one of the worse movies I have ever seen. I would not have minded if the children liked it.
1
Those characters were more comedy and people understood that they were not real but if they were it was how you would imagine them. Similar to a superhero with powers.
1
@tankwfw 90s sitcoms were aimed at trendy apartment living adults not children. They appealed to the grown up fantasy of independence that was abound in the 1990s. Friends was one of the biggest and was very popular among college students. And the key draw for the male audience was the beautiful women. For women the draw was the glamourous women in the sitcom. Those shows were more about entertainment just as shows were before that. People of that era knew they were entertainment just as they could watch a 1960s Rom Com and know it was not a reality.
1
If Disney just made female orientated sitcoms people would be happy but instead they are trying to convince a group of teenageers that middle aged women are fun which might be true for teen boys in certain ways but not in a family entertainment show.
1
I sort of liked he Kingdom of the Crystal Skull but found one character a little bit annoying.
1
@MrTimberwolfsden What you did not figure out the movie was about Trumps wall or illegals travelling into America. I paid nearly $200 to take my family out for the day to see Logan expecting that it would be a proper comic book movie and what we were subjected to was a party political broadcast, and telling us about logan needed to be in end of life healthcare and them being chased by a man with a metal arm that could do absolutely nothing. It was a useless movie at best. Horribly overrated. That's what I am talking about. And I get enough politics on the news and tv without it being in a "Xmen" movie.
1
They love using the whole PTSD nonsense that has permutates modern culture. Most servicemen who were in war did not have PTSD they had other psychological conditions.
1
The movies are probably not finished.
1
Maybe it is like feminists today pretending that women are not allowed to vote, work or challenge me. It is like the way they ignore Margaret Thatcher or Golda Meir pretending women have never been in power before. Most of them probably never heard of Elizabeth 1st.
1
Wonder woman has super powers so she is not a normal women.
1
You can still find good movies and good tv shows but you really have to search for them.
1
Not sure how they push that one.
1
Logan was terrible.
1
@dhilipans5412 It is a comic book character who is associated with the x-men. How would you feel if you went to a batman movie and he was sick the whole time and the joker was getting counseling and Batman was all about trying to save the planet from plastic in the ocean. DO you think you would feel cheated about that. Or how about you watch a Rocky movie and the whole experience is about car safety. Tell me how would you feel about that.
1
@dhilipans5412 I used the example of batman to say people would be unhappy if they went to a batman movie and it was not really a batman movie but was something else. Just as people were very annoyed about The Last Jedi and it being a vehicle for people to use for politics and in that political movie journey they produce a crap movie. I have no problem with a little bit of politics in a movie providing it is a good bit of entertainment. Imagine you went to see Ford Vs Ferrari and it ended up being a whole movie about Carroll Shelby heart condition. Or you go to see top gun and the movie was to focus on the politics of a particular country the whole way through and they only stepped in a fighter craft for 3 minutes. Logan is everything that is wrong with modern movies. I was so pissed by the film that the emotional ending was lost on me when it should have had a big impact. And it turns out I am not the only person who realized this about Logan. Or how about you go to see Walk the Line and you find out the movie is about Elvis and then it just shows Cash dying at the end.
1
Who ever is in charge of CW is responsible for this direction in their shows.
1
They have the original 35mm prints without the CGI. I dream some day of seeing them in a theatre on 35mm film projector.
1
I would assume in season two that there will be an adventure where he learns from the spy master.
1
It is a movie for modern simple people.
1
I bet you the guy who Steve Trevor was in loved the experience but no man will ever admit to that.
1
I never seen those movies so guess what I could not care and do not see him in that light at all. Which is great for me because If I see a film he is in an like it I will go and watch. I could not get the whining about Affleck either.
1
There is nothing wrong with the actors and actresses and probably nothing wrong with the writers. The real issue is who gets to call the creative shots on the show.
