Jonathan Petersen Let us get this straight are you more concerned with Japanese lives than US Lives. Be plain in your explanation and to the point no wiffle waffle.

Arttu Honkasalo The only other option was full scale invasion which would have probably cost hundreds of thousands of US lives. America simply was not going to sacrifice its own people to save Japanese people.

Dark Shadow Storm Let us get this straight so there is no confusion at all. Are you suggesting that the Japanese would not surrender to the US who carried out air raids that killed millions of Japanese and then dropped a Nuclear weapon on the Japanese who still did not surrender and it took a second bomb to get them to surrender. But just the threat of the Russians who did not have the naval capability to deal with Japan made them surrender. Where do you come up with this stuff. Do you actually believe what you are saying or is it just blind ignorance. Think about what you said. Do you think they surrendered to the Russians who had no capability to invade Japan?

Julio Cartagena Your alternative seems to about dropping Nuclear weapons in another place and is not an alternative to dropping nuclear weapons. Do you think there would be any less criticism to dropping the nuclear weapons elsewhere.

Adam 2766 Why would the Russians who had no naval capability at the time be a threat to the Japanese when the Americans were pounding them into the ground. Can you explain how the Russians offered them a greater threat. The US more or less wiped the Japanese Naval forces out but even that skeleton naval force would have destroyed the Russian Naval force. The Russians actually had no air force threat against the Japanese mainland. Where do you people get your ideas from? They do not tally with history or reality and are very theoretical. There was over 100,000 US men who died in the war with the Japanese and some 200,000 were wounded.

Aidan Christy The only reason the USSR was actually able to fight against the Germans was because they got aid from the US>
