  1. Orwell himself fought in the Spanish Civil war. So that would have meant that he would have seen communists go up against Fascists' and share the same ideology but pretend that they were different from other other. Orwell would have also seen Britain fight against the National Socialists only to introduce the exact same welfare state into the UK through the Labour party socialists pretending they were not socialists. Most of those contractions must have had an impact on him.
