What india needs is to industrialize its country. That is the real powerbase of a military.

@Ze TheGame War is about scale of force not just being able to build something that can perform a certain capability. Having the designs for a hypersonic missile is great and building prototypes is great but can it be manufactured at a scale that would enable it to become a force in a global industrial war. Germany had jet fighters in WW2 but simply could not build enough of them to compete with thousands of aircraft in the sky. German also had tanks that were more capable than anything the Allies had but again could not produce them at scale. Germany also had missiles in WW2 but again could not manufacture them at scale. And this is all with Germany being one of the most advanced industrial countries on earth at the time.

@d_ni6519 Nope. The US does not consider countries that go alone as an enemy. What the consider an enemy is countries that try to interfere or who are involved in trying to take down the west. The US does not care if Russia and China are strong what they care about is what they do with that strenght.

That list is pure nonsense. Having more troops does not mean a military is more capable.

The US to date have built nearly 1000 F35 aircraft and will build much more than that. The point of the F35 is so that it can be a multi role platform that is flexible and be the base of the US air power with its allies. It can be used as a general stealth fighter and even has the capability to be vertical take off if need be. The F35 is on a par with F18 for operational lifetime costs.

@ColinoDeani How can they do it. Russia has a population of 140 million and China has a population of 1.4 billion. Who is going to buy Chinese goods as it cannot be Russia?

Technology will develop through market innovation but war does focus that innovation into certain areas that can be of benefit. If WW3 breaks out you can be sure the US will have Manhattan projects for nanotechnology bots, quantum computing and space travel. And each of those will have hundreds of billions of dollars of research and the best minds working on them. The US has already developed the foundational science for that engineering more so than the Manhattan project.

Maintaining tactical capability is far more important than troop numbers on paper.

The US spends about 3 trillion per year on its welfare state and about 800 billion on its military. The US military standing army is massive because it is scale with force and tactics.

@ColinoDeani Can Russia and China withstand a large scale economic blockade?
