  1. Swedish military has 80 defensive combat aircraft and 20 combat defensive ships. When that is combined with the region it will make it very difficult for the russians to move through they will take hits before they get through. The idea is to show that they are ready and not sitting around. We can only hope that this is posturing and nothing else.

  2. Does not change the fact they have to be active militarily for what may come. It is sad that the Irish can only send out a fishing fleet as they have neglected their own military for the last 80 years.

  4.  @lu544  Europe can still protect Europe but having the US military bases there means it sends a message loud and clear. Be under impression that if the east somehow conquers Europe that they will just sit there. They will come for the US as well.

  5.  @Sam-nb8ev  There is one big massive bear in the room that people are forgetting about. The US has over 300 naval vessels and 20 carriers that can put into the air above any region 500 aircraft and that does not take into account the ability to launch from world wide bases. The US could make those narrow sea lanes into a shooting gallery with airpower, naval vessels and missiles from above.

  11.  @anthonyloveanthonylove2159  In theory if Every Russian remaining warhead was to be strategically placed around the globe and timed to go off instantaneously it would do massive damage. But to use as a warhead for full nuclear exchange with the US it would not be enough. That 3% figure is being kind. Those numbers being allot to Russia in terms of warheads are old cold war numbers belonging to systems that were operational 50 years ago at their peak.

  13. They still have 150 naval vessels, couple hundred fighter jets, tank numbers of about 25000 and about 3 million troops. They can do a lot of damage if they want to. They will not win a world war but would be extremely dangerous.

  15. There are key points around the world that really matter from a strategic world war point of view. Places that most people do not understand such as Sweden, Ireland South Africa, Turkey, Israel and so on. Each point can act as a landing zone for major warfare. It is how Russia and China will try to engage in warfare without a large functioning navy to do so.

  17. Sweden is not going to attack they are sending out the message that they are willing to defend and will not roll over. The east needs to be careful that they do not awaken the western industrial economies that have been in hibernation for the last several decades. The US with in a year could be producing 10 million vehicles for war. The only weakness the US had in WW2 was rubber production for tires but they still managed to get through it.
