The walled garden is not creative and this is not the first time that the walled garden has a crumbling wall. At one point IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Xerox ruled the hill and Apple and Microsoft came along and picked the whole market apart. Companies that have creativity daring and willing to try new things will really win out. Musk fully understands where the next innovative disruptions come from. Jobs and Gates understood that at one point they were the disruptors that came into effect in the 1970s but their true effects were not seen until the 1990s and 2000s.

@InfernosReaper What do you mean he is notorious for announcing stuff that does not exist. That makes no sense at all.

Are apple doing this to earn extra money or is it a case of them being lazy?

That is where you are wrong. The most successful apps and technologies are not clones. They tend to be creative done by creative people. Apple at one point was creative but is not that anymore. It is run by caretakers that do not know what they are doing. What was apples last truly innovative product? Elon will wipe the floor with them because he is like Jobs in that he creatives disruptive products.

Apple are not a creative software company their strengths are in hardware. Google are not a creative hardware company and their strengths are in search engines. Elon and Tesla was what apple was at one point it was creative, edgy and on the fringe. Apple today are a company that are in creative decline run by caretakers. Google do not have any sort of monopoly over hardware so they really cannot compete with this when it all plays out. The next generation internet is not where apple are at they really lag behind in getting to the next stage and are reactive not proactive.

How could they have no questions for the repair expert at all. Disgusting to be honest.

Android is a unix like system but so is Mac. Musk could easily develop a Unix like OS that would function just as well but probably ad new structural features that would leap frog the existing capabilities of current OS. I suspect that Musk had planned all of this before bought out Twitter. This has probably been a plan that was years in the making with several steps already being in play.
