  2. China is doing the right thing trying to shut the spread down. Closing the immigration back in 2009 from Mexico was the right call. The problem here is that Western Governments have been allowing people to travel from China with stupid promises of quarantines.

  3. It is understandable why they would go after space. Aerospace development can be layered into the whole industrial system of a country and its education system. It can be a goal to work towards and it can also develop technological abilities. But none of that is really going to change the fact they do not have a market economy.

  5. Russia always had issues with warhead timing and had to rely on aerial based reactions. It is really difficult to time the detonation of warheads and when intercontinental exchange is considered it adds to the complexity levels. When Russia detonated Tsar they had to drop it using a parachute like the US did in WW2 because it is an extremely difficult thing to time. If the missile hits the ground to early then it is not going to be viable.

  7. That 2% figure may not actually be the real figure it could be higher or lower. The problem is that China does not know how many are infected. I doubt most of the claimed infections are not actually tested but based on symptoms.

  11. I think most people do not understand the actual situation of China. I will lay out some of the basic functionalities that are deal breakers. China does not produce its own food and imports about 85% of its food and even the components that make agriculture possible. China also has the same issues energy, lack of water, large waste lands and not enough of the raw materials to make industrial outputs. People think China are acting like they are because they are tyrants but the reality is their actions are those of desperation. There is too many people and not enough chairs.

So while it may be true that 2% are dying right now it does not mean there is not a larger band that people fall into in terms of health problems. It is not that China might be lying about the 2% just that it may not be an accurate figure. If 1000 people die from the disease what is number infected in relation to those that die?

  16. Where do you think DJI gets the components to manufacturing their systems from. For example where do they source the microchips for the digital Cameras, sensors, signal processors and so on. A car can be assembled with a badge on it but all the components can be from other places.

  21. Not even close to being true. The actual size of the transistor is not the defining factor in terms of how many transistors can fit on a chip. That is just a marketing ploy and when you look down into it you will realize that the transistors are nowhere near as small as what are claimed but certain feature sizes are at that scale so they get used in the marketing. Moore's law still has another 30 to 40 years before the theoretical size limit means they cannot cram anymore transistors on a 2 dimensional surface and will require different profiles.

  22. I just cannot see musk aiming for the Chinese market with a 44 billion buyout of a third party company. I think twitter in 10 years time will look completely different and have functions not seen before. The 44 billion he pays now may end up looking like small change in the long term.

  24. It is a virus that attacks the lungs so it is expected that people will die from pneumonia. I suspect the Chinese government are being overwhelmed and they are throwing everything they have at the situation but still have no idea of the scale. The real problem is that western governments are allowing people into their country form risk regions and then making silly promises of quarantine.

You can be sure that there are white Americans who are also selling of trades and providing inside information but again it is all out in the open.

  32. What this demonstrates is that Chinese culture is not good at developing or being creative. What they are good at is copying. For the next decade or two the west will stay ahead but after that who really knows. I suspect China will be doing this to build their own economy for internal trade.

  33.  @maniswil2  US did not get lucky. What you see as luck is part and parcel of the market economy. China does not have a market economy nor a creative culture. Taiwan and Korea are not as advanced as people imagine and are still years behind the US as their market economy is in its baby steps. The US per value production of chips is still far in excess of Taiwan. I know this runs counter to the media narrative that has convinced people that all chips come from Taiwan.

  34. India is about 20 years behind China economically. It has half the GDP of China. But India is only getting started and when it starts to accelerate it will be very obvious as to what is happening.

  36. If you do not have left over women in culture what you end up with is western birth rates of below 2. If the birth rate is below 2 it means a culture will be subjected to population collapse. It is just mathematics and it only ends up in one direction. The average age in Germany is 45 years of age and in india it is 29 years of age. That means in Germany there is a higher proportion of older people in the society and less younger people. It normally signifies a lower birth rate.

China export market kept it going when the bubble was growing but it cannot maintain that bubble beyond a certain point and that is where you will see it go through a fast expansion phase.   49. China does not have enough warheads for full nuclear exchange with the US and it is even doubtful that Russia has enough warheads to engage with the US. The power of nuclear weapons have been overstated for far too long. They have the power to heavily damage a city but that is not the same as exchanging them in open inter continental warfare.
