@cw442 So thunderf00t has detailed knowledge of engineering and auto industry? He is a classical academic type that works in a funded environment that is not as smart as he thinks. Ironically what he is doing is exactly what the media does. When you have an expert level knowledge in particular areas you just start to understand that they do not know what they are talking about. But for everything else they sound like they know what they are talking about. Having knowledge of a fundamental area of science does not mean that it can be applied across the whole of engineering. Until Thunderf00t can present his own engineering for scrutiny he is just an armchair coach.

Musk does a lot of interviews and out of the thousands of hours of footage 30 seconds could be obtained that can give any sort of impression.

Great men always have these types of detractors that actually cannot build anything them self. They always look for gaps in something to attack. But as always they will be forgotten by history and the odd person will be saying "do you remember that guy that used to say this or that but I somehow cannot remember his name and it was something funny like LightFOOt".

@maifantasia3650 I cannot remember the name but I think it is LightF00tie or something like that. You think it is Thunderf00t?

@NareshSinghOctagon And several million cars his company has produced. Will Tesla sell 2 million a year by 2023?
1
@Tommmmmmmmmmmm Difference is Musk is intelligent and has a company that produces 1 million cars a year and also has a aerospace company that builds its own systems from the ground up. And many can actually understand what Musk is talking about even though he will get predictions wrong from time to time. Musk is clearly shy in many ways and struggles in public speaking.

@dukenukem5768 His talks make perfect sense to those with the engineering and science background to understand them. He does get things wrong and has admitted to that which is rare for people in public life to say that. But he is correct more of the time than he is wrong.

If ThunderF00t guesses things he will get some of them right at some point. Stand at a bus stop and guess enough times and he will predict that a bus comes. Musk himself has stated that he is not always right and can get things wrong but does that therefore mean that he is full of crap or a fraud? Tesla now sells 1 million cars per year and his space X business is also winning contracts and if his Starlink works he will become the world's first trillionaire. People like Musk, Jobs, Gates, Gordon Moore and Henry Ford can get things wrong but when they get them right they tend to be spectacular.

He may do so as he has billions of dollars now to invest into things.

It is not skepticism it is something else and they can sense that the person is not being genuine. So what if Musk gets something wrong. As he has said many times he is not correct about everything.

You mean he put you deeper into a sleep. People that sound all science and technology and present their own cleverness as a means for you to outsource your own intellect is not necessarily a good thing. Let us look at he facts with Musk he has his primary focus on Tesla which now produces and sells about 1 million cars per year and his Spacex company has contracts with billions. What exactly could you tell yourself that ThunderF00t has achieved. Be honest with yourself what has he done that you could with certainty that you could say that allows you to put such faith in him.

@electric7487 Musk has been involved in every car development at Tesla and he has put up most of the early capital. Without Musk there would be no Tesla today.
