@BobBelson If BJJ can introduce a scored takedown system similar to Wrestling or Judo it would revolutionise their sport and make it far more realistic to the world. In real world situation could a BJJ practitioner go to the ground and lay on their back. That could be suicide.

Wrestling is better than Judo as it is more realistic but if a person cannot get access to wrestling but can do Judo it is better than nothing.

@GrantUrismo99 Clothing does not stop a person from wrestling but lack of clothing will make it very difficult to engage judo skills. There is a reason why there is no gi BJJ because they wanted it to be more realistic. Judogi is not realistic of the real world. One of the problems Judo has as well is its obsession with upper body stand up grappling which does not transition well to legs and really only deals with legs in terms of sweeps and throws. Judo stand up grappling tends to be very Judogi focus. Judo is not completely useless and if a person cannot get access to wrestling then it could be good option.

@sonnybrisbane66 Wrestlers once they get somebody on their back punch their lights out.

@GrantUrismo99 If an attacker is wearing no top or a t shirt there is no gi to hold. Most clothing is weak and will tear in a fight. Leg takedowns such as Morote Gari while a listed technique it is rare due to focus on using Judogi. In the real world people do not wear such, BJJ has many limitations as well. Wrestling grappling emphasises full body control.

@mickburton6838 I am not saying Judo is not good. I am saying that wrestling is better.

@mickburton6838 I am not saying Judo is useless just that wrestling is better.

@mickburton6838 Wrestling is better for grappling which extends to self defence.

@d4n4nable Everyday clothing is not Judogi. It is not as strong and will tear. Most people wear shirts that rip easily.

+Chuck Stevens If you can do wrestling choose it.

If jiu-jitsu was to introduce scored takedowns it would make it far more realistic for the street self defence.

@sonnybrisbane66 There was very few pure wrestlers in the early UFC. Ken Shamrock would have been the nearest thing to a pure wrestler. Dan Severn would have been the first wrestler but he was an old man at that time but he could still punch peoples lights out on the ground when the took them down. A wrestler with no stand up at all could still dominate in the UFC even today.

@mickburton6838 Utility is that wrestling does not require clothing Judo does.

@blakkmoon Judo is good but wrestling is better.

@noneyabusiness6957 I once saw a small tiny man get into a fight with a guy that was 7 feet tall with horns on his head. They called the monster man The Mountain.

@Gautham Menon Judo is a good effective Martial Art but wrestling is better.

@leftymariano1020 Judo has very poor take down defence when it comes to lower body double and single leg takedowns. They simply are not part of the judo culture even though they are technical techniques from within judo. Judo relies predominantly on upper body Gi grips and as such there is no requirement to really go near the legs with the hands. Leg sweeps do work in judo but that is only because there is no focus on lower leg grips. I have practised both Judo and Wrestling from a young age and know the technical difference between them as sports. And where their weakness and strengths are I am not saying judo is useless as it is more effective than BJJ in my book but it lacks the true body control that wrestling offers due to the use of Gi.
