  1. I am not fan boy of Kurzweil but if you are going to make claims that Kurzweil is wrong you need to at least provide a technical analysis of why he is wrong. Talking about religion or fanboys has no relationship with proving him wrong.

  3. Ray Kurzweil's work has nothing to do with scientology. Ray himself is a researcher in the field of artificial intelligence. The businesses he formed are all from his own research.

  4. +Isak Bohman The state of semiconductor technology is not going slow down the progress in AI or the application of electronics. With the level of physics and science as a whole we have right now there is no stopping a singularity. We now have the right level of semiconductors to enable communication computer systems that will allow very fast networks such as voice recognition which is not actually done on your device. If CPU's were to stop progressing right now that will not stop the development in such areas as solid state memory or GPU architecture which have their own engineering progress. Take memristors (not saying they have been achieved yet) they have no direct correlation to semiconductors in relation to transistors. They are a completely different entity. Kurzweil has even talked at length in his books about the bottle neck in semiconductor integrated circuits. I am sure you have read the singularity is near.

  5.  @Phatnaru0002  So with the confidence of your statement I am assuming you have read the singularity is near? Kurzweil is an artificial intelligence engineer. He has worked at the research level and at the commercial level. He is not just making bold claims that we will have this in year X because it is the future. He is looking at engineering today and proposing what we can build with that level of engineering and what the next generations of tools will build. He for example makes proposals of what a linguistics model is capable of producing with an X amount of computing power. He has written extensively about hierarchical models in pattern recognition. I am guess you disagree with his proposals and if so can you explain why. I suspect you are just hearing Kurzweil talk about topics in a general sense without understanding the greater body of his works.

  6. +omg hey there Kurzweil has an exponential model that he uses to make these calculations. You are saying he is un-empirical but what has that got to do with statistical predictions. Statistics is not an empiric science and guess what most of cosmology is not empirical either it uses inductive reasoning.

  7. +Harry Marquis Chemists. biologists and many other scientists were saying that Kurzweil was pseudo-intellectual when he was saying that the human genome would take 14 years to complete. Many in the field were saying it would take hundreds of years due to the size and complexity of the data. "quantum mechanics" has absolutely nothing to do with Kurzweil's theorems on intelligent systems or the usage of various models for data analysis.

  8. +IRL Server Religions do not calculate the completion times for sequencing the human genome or make accurate numbers of the expansion of the internet long before it was established. Can you explain how Kurzweil was able to do this since you have made a statement about him with little facts discussed. Maybe Kurzweil is wrong but calling him a religious leader does not qualify your statement.
