Most people that claim there is no god simply are not be truthful with them self. They more than likely have not done enough research to be so confident on the issue.

Mormons are nothing like Scientologists or Jehovah's. They tend to be a very mild religion that does not make people do crazy thing.

That is probably not even close to being true. Many people have visions, dreams and experiences within them self. It does not mean they consumed anything during that process.

@joshua.snyder European north American culture did not practice entheogen as in taking strong psychoactive drugs to induce religious experiences. Just because he believed in dreams or visions does not make him a charlatan. That would mean he would need to have had a plan to create/fabricate experiences to then apply them to constructed organisation to then control people. In that era such complex plans would not have needed to form religious groups. People of that era were far more religious than today hence why they would have been attracted to different organisations of the era. Smith like many of that era would have believed that dreams and visions (probably dreams) meant something. I know a medical doctor with a Phd that believes that dreams mean something and no matter how logical a conversation you have with her she will not budge on the topic so does that make her a charlatan?

@CoachSP4 You will not enter such a debate because it is outside your view point. Have you ever taken examination of such concepts as to whether our universe is infinite of finite. If you have not then you have examined with clarity such concepts of their being a super intelligence or creator. I will just expand a little if the universe is infinite does it mean that there is infinite number of particles.

@emeralddennis6966 I should have been clear in what I was saying. I did not mean "they" to imply that Jehovah and Scientology were mild. Both Jehovah and Scientology are restrictive religions. Mormon's for the most part are a lightweight religion in that they present the idea of individual responsibility. Even Amish that people seem to think are a hardcore are a very light religion that base them self on individual responsibility.

But why would anybody worship a ship? Most religions worship a grand creator and believe that they see those patterns everywhere.

Even non believers have to at least consider that he may have had the visions.
