  1. I never served in WW2 but my service experience came shooting back when watching that film. I could not possibly imagine what it was like for WW2 veterans to watch. My grandfather served in WW2 and is brother was involved in Normandy and was killed. I do not think my grandfather would watch it. My father who served in Korea cannot watch war films.

  2.  @SweatyFatGuy  Record that in a diary if you can and get it on paper. As you get older it will be harder for you to remember the details. If you know any of his family members talk to them as he may have told them different things. The reason that generation did not talk about the war was due to the fact they did not boast.

  3. In my family it was always thought that my grandfathers brother died on the landing but he died well in land much later.
