  1. We call it a singularity now but later on it may not be a singularity as we will greater intelligence to make us understand what we are at. RIght now it looks like a singularity but the further we move forward the further it moves forward. Over the next 10 years intelligence is going to go through a transformative period. Moore's law shows the doubling of transistors on a chip every 18 months. The doubling period of ai is every 4 months. So the year 2030 which is 8 years from now that will be (4x8) thirty two doubling periods which is 2^32 which means AI will be 4 billion times more powerful than today.

  3. That is the beauty of the market economy in that it is a competition where the best win. There is not going to be one ai but millions if not billions of them. So the counter to a powerful bad ai is a powerful good ai.

The technological singularity is about human intelligence that we cannot understand today. Kurzweil does speculate about space exploration and saturating the universe with intelligence but we could not possible imagine what that would be with such limited intelligence.

It is the reason why ai was able to complete the human genome sequence is 13 years when people like yourself were thinking it would take centuries. The science fiction in this is that we have no idea what it will all look like so we try to imagine its outcome.

  19. That is a simplistic view point. With AI we can build VR that will act as a dimension for exploration. Our models of the quantum will be explored through that VR ai dimension. And within that VR dimension we will build other VR dimensions that will build more dimensions. WIthin those VR worlds there will be new laws of physics and new intelligent life forms born.

  25. I will most certainly be accessible. What drives the technology is large widespread market access. In 20 years time google and apple maybe viewed like AOL and Nokia. There maybe thousands of companies at that level in 20 years time. Advancements in AI and 3d printing will mean that nearly everybody will be in on the innovation and building of new systems. Ideas will be the new trade and will advance technology even further. Microchips today are at the same price as paper.
