  1. War is not easy to wage in winter. Movement can be very slow, moral can be very low and exposed troops can die of the elements never mind getting shot at. So while it is true that they can move in the frozen hard ground the complexity levels do increase.

  2. American still retained most of its manufacturing and industry and most US trade is internal. Other countries especially Europeans have not done as well.

  3. The War is not over because the Russian military is not a technologically advance force. I know people in the west think that it is but most of the Russian forces are operating on pre WW2 standard equipment and tactics that suit that standard of equipment. Russia tried to do what the US does which is precision high volume warfare but it failed miserably because they simply do not have the depth of industry nor the actual technical capabilities to perform. Russia nuclear arsenal is based on warheads that are from the 1970s with some of them being 50 years old. We have been sold this idea through media for the last 60 years that nuclear weapons will end the world so it is very difficult for us to get our heads around the fact they have to be delivered and they have to reach a site that matters.

  6. Still does not mean their troops can easily wage war in winter. He is not saying there will be no exchange between them but the big battles are coming down the line.

  7. They did not beat the Germans withy anything. Germany wiped out he Russia military but it was fighting on three fronts and simply did not have the troop numbers to enable that or the supplies. Germanys' issue in WW2 was that they could not provide their troops with enough supplies and they ran out of fuel.

  9. Winter offensives in WW2 were mostly a waste of equipment and troops. Rarely did they end with success of any measure. Remember as well this is not WW2 era with the same numbers of troops.

  10.  @babelhuber3449  Germany ran out of supplies and could not push any further east as their supply lines would not support their lines. They also ran out of fuel. Winter was their main problem they simply were too thinly stretched with their three front war. And on top of that the US was supplying the Russians with weapons, tanks, aircraft, factory machines, vehicles and raw materials to work with.
