Morgan Allen That does not make any sense.

US has no shortage of fertilizer production as it is a by-product of oil and gas industry.

His point was that a small high output plant could complete with large plants in Asia. Now when that is applied to the whole of the southern cotton industry it will be enormous. He is not literally saying to set up a micro plant with just two software engineers. He is saying it will take a lot less staff than an Asian plant and have far higher outputs. It is the reason why a US worker has about 20 times more productive output than a Chinese worker. To staff the machines in a asian plant takes about 250 workers and that is just production staff not maintenance or technical staff. US plant production will be automated.

China is going to collapse and so are several other cotton producers so be lucky that he was not talking about India. His point was not about how great those cotton producing countries are but how they are going to fall out of the global supply chain.
3
So you do not think that cotton is going to go into decline at a global level. What planet are you living on?
2
Does not have enough supply of water and then in hot periods it dries up and will make the region even hotter.
2
The US south is already a massive manufacturing centre.
2
Lennon, Stalin and all the leaders in Russia after that were not jewish. SO what on earth are you talking about?
2
Hemp is not cotton so you need to end that fantasy and stop smoking it. Hemp has its place which the US uses at an industrial level.
1
@harisbbbbaaa Hemp is not cotton and is nowhere near as readily useable and requires processing. Doing that at industrial scales is more complex.
1
@mrgyani Bangladesh will also have machines and other things to cover as well.

US clothing made out of cotton is an important industry and will be more so in the future. Would you rather buy an american shirt of one made by child slave labour.
1
Will not make up for the massive loss of China.
1
Was it genuinely sabotaged or was it just an excuse for shutdowns.
1
Southern economies are booming and already have large scale manufacturing.
1
Fantasy.
1
The US company that can own the source of the cotton and make it then into products of value will be the winner.
1
If you think China and Egypt are stable then you are living in a fantasy. What Peter Zeihan has said is so obvious that a child could understand it.

Cotton can be important for clothing so if Australia can actually lower their cotton production but then focus that cotton on value added products that can be were they really gain economically. Australia does not produce enough cotton to meet the demand world wide especially when other countries fall of the map.
1
But not at the scales required to fill in for the other markets who fall off. Somebody pointed out that Australia is a major producer but that will not fill in the gap either.

@normieloser6969 There is no short of water resources just inadequate supply system. California has not increased its infrastructure but its population has increased. California needs to build several large scale reservoirs, localized daily storage increases and several other large pipeline systems. Building anything in California is hard as ice but very brittle due to all the lefty activism. There are areas of the UK and Ireland that have the exact same problems even though they are awash with water as it falls from the skies in very large volumes.
1
Yes it is fantastic that US cotton will flourish as part of a value added production output. I know you probably dislike America and would prefer to see that overseas.
1
India and US are major players but they will not be able to make up for the loss of Chinese Cotton. The video Peter just made is not about all the other countries but about the fall of China. Be lucky he was not talking about Indian production. US cotton production will be part of value added products which will be an opportunity for India as well. A US plant will massively out produce any asian plant even though it will be 10 times smaller.
1
It depends on what they are used for.
1
How is it factually off?
1
Extreme heat? The south has been warm for thousands of years.
1
Australia is not a major cotton producer. It does have an industry but will not make up for China and the other places that are going to have issues.
1
Or they could buy a series of quality clothing and not buy things that they never wear and end up in a landfill.
