  1. People that talk about the Cartels and claim to be experts in it just romantaise them. They do what 1970s movies and media did to the Mafia. Making them out to be some highly organized system when they were anything but that.

  6. It does not stop the drug trade and gang culture. It also can create the groundwork for something else to come through later on that is much bigger and more powerful.

  7.  @pierregibson6699  The Cartels took control of the drug trade in the US. It is common knowledge that they are the biggest gangs in the prisons and on the streets in many cities. That does not mean there are no other gangs but they do not have dominance. This is not about norml crime like burglary, violent assaults and so on. It is about street gang culture. And it is one of the reason groups like MS13 were never able to fully control the streets.

  8. You missed what he was talking about when discussing Trump. The wall that Trump built required roads for construction of the wall so that contractors, machines and materials could get to the point of the wall construction site. That meant those very inhospitable places that were in effect desert that were very difficult to cross all of a sudden had a road system running through them that smugglers could use.

  11. A lot of addicts end up in the prison system because they commit crimes and that is where the treatment should be starting. Until prisons get rid of common areas and start having one prisoner per cell and not allowing them to mix it will not change.
