  1.  @karlmunford7000  See Karl your first mistake is to use Canada as an example it would never join Russia. Cuba tried to put nuclear missiles in as a threat to the US and it got a response but it was never actually invaded. And that was a far bigger risk to the US at the time than the Ukraine is to Russia.

  3. Russia does not have a well developed economy. Let us be realistic of what it is. John McCain who said that would not be a fan of the Communist East considering the torture he went through.

  4.  @JohnCorrUK  Hopefully the west can flood the region with weapons systems. I do not think Russia has the stomach for a global industrial war but they do have one ace up their sleeve and that nuclear weapons.

  5.  @BillSikes.  But it is not chess that is being played it is an economic war and also a war involve real violence and force. Russia has a population of 140 million NATO is over 1 billion. Even if China gets involved their numbers are not going to make much of a difference to the battle. If Europe finds an alternative to Russian energy that might be the one thing that Russia really loses out on an China simply will not be a replacement for that market place.

  7. But how is Putin going to dismantle NATO. It is not like the west is going to just give up and say it is over. There is now also a chance that the EU may build a defence system that would make it very hard to displace. Putin might be right about Russia having more nuclear weapons than France but when you combine it with the UK Nuclear stockpile all of a Sudden they can destroy Russia as well as the other way round.

  10. I do not think that it is. That would hardly make a dent in the Russian economy. And it would take years to play out.
