@unlimitedgunsandammo1073 He fought heavy weights as a middleweight all based on skill.

It can happen when a fighter takes that much punishment that early on.
10
Every fighter complains about how much they earn. Pay them more and they will still complain. There is always going to be somebody that complains so that the media can push their agenda.

DannyMorrs McGregors performance was text book in that he weathered the storm and then just stepped up a gear and finished him.
8
3 Title defences is not exactly going out as a legend.
4
@paulwalsh6925 The US Navy Budget is as big as the GDP of Qatar. The fact you even stated that has me in stitches.
4
+Brad Potts He was winding him up. Because he knows he may face him (Urijah ) at some point. Connor has obviously watch Ali and is using his play book. People thought Ali done it to show off when in fact he was using it to wind his opponents up.
3
He simply could keep his early pace up to match Paddy's physicality. Paddy was cruising for the whole fight until he stepped it up a gear.

America is the wealthiest country on earth.

Hank Hill There is one thing people have to factor in with this and that is size. People seem to be ignoring this very basic fact. Conor is massive for the division. Most of those fighters will need to give it 110% to get a take down on him. This is one of the reasons Chad gassed it. He had to expend so much energy trying to get those take downs and when he has achieved them he has to then control him on the ground. Before this fight I had serious doubts about McGregor after this fight I am not sure than any of the other fighters in that division actually have the physical ability to beat him. It is going to take a wrestler that is as big as McGregor to really control him and that division does not have anybody like that.
2
GBDazzler "mcgregor has the wrestling of a high school girl." SO what you are saying is that Mendes could not beat a high school girl.
2
Randy JP He weathered the storm that Mendes threw at him.
2
Randy JP As stated by you " if you call that a storm........then the punishment stephens got from bermudez must've been a cataclysmic disaster" I have stated that McGregor had weather a storm from the best in the business. I have stated how McGregor had done this technically not buy luck. McGregor had a far better technical fight.
2
tc4cfc There is not such thing as preparing for a 5 round fight. If he had to fight Aldo it would be 5 rounds and if he was the champion he would have to defend 5 rounds. There are no special differences in training for 3 or 5 rounds.
2
tc4cfc Mendes had to work 110% to get Mcgregor down. We have seen this countless times in MMA. This was only the second round that this occurred in. His not being prepared has no real bearing upon this. If this had of been the 4th round of the fight then I would understand his lack of fight preparation. But we are talking the second round. He would be training for 3 rounds routinely. Even now after the fight Mendes could do 3 rounds with anybody. Mendes threw the kitchen sink at McGregor and as soon as the fight got back on its feet he was soften up for Mcgregor to actually finish him. McGregor is massive for that division. It will require either a striker of his level or a wrestler that is just as big and strong as McGregor. And that does not exist in the division at the moment. Edgar or Aldo will not get McGregor down the way Mendes did.
2
That is the way MMA is it has to protect the fighter when they are not defending them self.
2
wrtghgyh Oh no the Elbows to the head, kicks to the body and punches to the head had nothing to do with it. We all know that you are super hard and could last that easily.
2
Greasy Harold You are absolutely sad. I mean for you to sit and imagine that little story up. Was it some sort of gay MMA fantasy you have there.
2
Paddy has punching power and it will take the division time to figure that out.
2
No real difference. A person that can do one can do the other.
2
It makes no sense at all for McGregor to fight either Aldo, Swanson or Lamas. Let him fight Aldo because either he can Beat him or he cannot. If he Loses to one of them then that will be the end of the hype. This type of hype cannot be bought and it is rare. All of those fighters you have mentioned have Lost to Aldo already.
1
***** At this point Edgar does not deserve any kind of shot at the title. He has already lost to Aldo. Really at this point we want to see Aldo Vs McGregor.
1
metcalfestarfish Frankie is not chad and he does not have the power Chad has. So I do not know how people think Edgar would win.
1
RHYS PEREGRINE Fan boys have nothing to do with this. Before the Mendes and McGregor fight no body actually knew how Conor was going to deal with the wrestling onslaught from Mendes. After this fight we can see that it took all of Mendes power to take Conor down and the longer the fight went on the more it took of Mendes Energy to take him down. Edgar does not have this power game that Mendes has he cannot rely on charging bull tactics. He is going to need to be more measured in his approach. Now the question we have if this fight happens is will Edgar be able to counter Conors range and power.
1
Nicolas LESTELLE The Elbows to the head, kicks to the body and the punches that McGregor landed all took their toll. Then there is the fact that Mendes through everything he had at Mcgregor and this caused him to gas.
1
firdaus125 If a fighter is rolled up in a ball and not defending him self then the ref will stop the fight. Get over it fan boy.
1
John Smith Mendes gassed because he threw everything at McGregor. It took so much energy from him that he was heart broken and drained. in other words he went into a race sprinting when he should have been jogging. Dana wants the mega fight with Aldo. He technically got it with this fight as there was high PPV and with Aldo Vs McGregor it will be higher again. You are correct he wants McGregor to avoid these other fights. That does not mean they will beat him. Before this fight I could not call Aldo Vs McGregor because none of us knew how McGregor would handle being on his back. If Aldo is capable of taking this fight to the ground we all now know that Mcgregor will not panic. Have you ever seen Kevin Randleman vs Randy Couture. It was the same as this fight Randleman just gassed it because he threw everything at Couture.
1
GBDazzler Cardio has nothing to do with this. Mendes had to over exert him self to get those take downs. It took so much of his energy to do it. He was like a raging bull but there is a cost to this in that it can drain you of your energy. Edgar is not as strong as Chad nor as aggressive. So how is he going to get the take down. It was not easy for chad to get the take down and control it. The problem these fights have is that McGregor is very big for this division. Those smaller fighters even with good wrestling are going to have to work really hard to get that take down and be able to do it for 5 rounds. McGregor still has his strength as could be clearly seen in the chad fight.
1
Randy JP I am afraid that Mendes storm was not enough. Let be honest he never looked like he could actually win the fight. He made a big flurry and scored points with the take down but just gassed him self in the process. He is not the first fighter to have done this. kevin randleman vs randy couture this happened as well. Where Randleman threw everything at Couture but again it was not enough and he just collapsed after the big onslaught. The problem Mendes has here is that McGregor is far bigger and stronger than him and it takes a lot more energy to take down a bigger and stronger oponent. Clearly Mendes is the better wrestler in all of this and if it had of been a high school wreslting match he would have won. But this is MMA and he lost.
1
+Guile Wheezer Aldo's leg kicks will be useless against McGregor.
1
Comoconquistaraunamujer Ya Mendes rolled up into a ball and was not defending him self. Hence ref stepped in.
1
jay son Aldo can train with 100 people but none of them are Mcgregor. Aldo's best chance against Conor was to be able to take him down. Chad Mendes who is the most powerful and best wrestler in the Division struggled to control the fight with Grappling. Will Aldo be able to do what Mendes done.
1
He still has a lot to prove. He has potential but that does not mean he is now the best. We will need to see.
1
Jorge Vieira Who was pushed to the limit. Mendes never looked like he was going to win. He was like a ranging bull at first but that just tired him out.
1
That is what the UFC should not do. It is fight entertainment and while the iron is hot Mcgregor should be fast tracked to a title fight and if he loses then that will be it. Both Swanson and Edgar have both fought Aldo already and it makes no sense for them to fight Aldo ahead of McGregor. Nor does it make any sense for McGregor to fight either of them. What is the point of some test either he can be Aldo or he Cannot beat Aldo. If Aldo Beats McGregor then Both Edgar and Swanson could fight for the title but if McGregor Wins they could still fight for the title with massive hype around it.
1
Nope. Paddy was cruising the fight and Luigi was having to out put 100% effort to stay with him. Paddy was cool the whole way through the fight.
1
@AWCTB Nearly makes no sense. He was still able to fight.
1
It is not easier to do chin ups.
1
None of the top ten has punching power.
1
@Hahah100 In the 155 division there is nobody with punching power. McGregor is finished and he was the only fighter with that genuine punching power. The single punch power is not there.
1
@Hahah100 It is just the reality of lightweight fighting. The punching power is simply not there in the division. McGregor was a freak.
1
No body has the ability in the division to actually hurt him and he knows it.
1
His opponent was going all out and Paddy had to just temper it a little bit.
1
@ETS186 Tony Ferguson does not have Paddys power punching. Not everybody is going to be able to land a punch on Paddy like that.
1
He must have had loads of women.
1
@addounsamiyoucef1999 Anderson Silva lost 4 fights before he came to the UFC and he learned from them. Pimblett has done the same thing. He fought through injuries as well.
1
He got punched three times how on earth is that getting nearly knocked out.
1
When a person is in shock from a serious leg injury they will say all manner of crazy things. Why on earth was he interviewed.
1
It has to be Ngannou vs miocic 3 and the UFC would be crazy to let that go. Jones is not a fight people are interested in watching at heavy weight. The fight is not going to go well for Jones as he is up against fighters that are far more powerful and bigger than what he is.
1
Losing? You must be joking. Having a big rush over and over and then burning out does not mean a fighter almost won a fight.
