If you combined that walking with physical activity such as gardening and did 5 minutes of intense exercise a few times a week it would be as beneficial as playing a competitive sport.

You think the issue only applies to America? it is happening in every western country and even China how has the same problems.

I would suggest that you go and see a doctor that specializes in functional or integrated healthcare. They can help you design a lifestyle program that may help you. Type 1 diabetes is a very specific type of genetic disorder that is different from Type 2 but there is one thing they have in common and that is leading a good lifestyle will help. Just to add if you did physical work and just five minutes of intense exercise a few times a week it would be far more beneficial than going out and trying to become an extreme athlete.

Because you are doing physical activity all day you really only need to do a few 5 minute intense sessions a week to improve their cardiovascular system. But you should consider your diet, body stats and screen for health conditions. Two of the best health diagnostic tests to do are CAC scan and Fibroscan. They are both non invasive tests that take about 10 minutes cost about $200 each and can predict your heart attack risk and diabetes risk. One tests the arteries and the other tests the liver and are two amazing tests.

My Grandfather served in WW2 and lived up into his nineties. Good diet and physical exercise is the way to go.

Humans are built for physical activity. Running or performing a cardio exercise for 40 minutes four times a week is not going to cause any sort of adverse outcome. The idea of the 40 minutes per session is down to the fact most people sit around all day.

What is even better for people if it is an option is being physically active for most of the day. Being on your backside for most of the day and then doing 30 of exercise is not enough. While it helps it simply is not enough. A person that does 3 hours of gardening everyday and then 3 five minute exercise bursts will have a far better metabolism than a person that just does the 30 minutes per day of exercise 3 days a week.

He is not saying that a person should be able to do a 2 minute dead hang. He is saying that is the base standard that they work from. so a person that can achieve that 2 minutes and the other activities would be considered elite. For most people to be anywhere near those figures would be considered elite by population standards.

@timmyonthego9617 He is not saying that a person trains like an elite athlete or that they would be an elite athlete what he is saying is that they should be aiming for a system like an elite athletes. He is not saying that a person should be punishing their body in extreme acts of athletics.

Exercise is not the best longevity activity. Being physically active is the best method. Sitting down for most of the day and then a 30 minute exercise burst is not enough.
