Academics in America are not excavating the sites in Egypt. Sites in Egypt have been done by various international teams. Egypt under previous rule have also rejected various research proposals as it did not fit with the politics of that region. You said it was not political and I have informed you that it is very political and also ideological. Artifacts are just one factor in that. This is human nature we are talking about it is not perfect and is open to abuse.

I am speaking generically because Egyptology is not one system as is made up of many different groups all with different aspirations and some are open to fraud including theft and poor research. It has been shown that there are older civilizations that Egypt but yet there are many Egyptologists that are not open to the possibility that Egypt as we know it was built on top of older civilizations. This does not mean that this fact only possible at this stage.

Study of Egyptian history is very political at best. Peer review does not mean it is free of prejudiced ideologies. What is considered a model with ancient Egypt is very ideologically driven and even when science is presented people high up in ancient Egyptian historical organisations will react against it. Yes but decided what the actual tons of stuff is can be the problem. People find bones around a site and they assume it is a burial site.

Of course it is political life its self is political. And this applies to universities and Egyptian official departments. Of course there is no coherent political ideologies as different groups of people have different agendas. Academics in America are different from those in the UK. Most of the discoveries of Egypt that ended up in Britain are classified as stolen by certain people from Egypt and you do not think that this is political in nature.
