  26.  @CrimesAgainstKurdsinBashur  ah ok. i don't know about the relationship between kurdish peoples and the tehran regime but i've no reason to doubt your assertion. i know that kurdistan has a flag - as you show - although my understanding was that it is a nation without a state - i.e. it claims an identity, a people, a history and a cultural set of norms but it doesn't maintain a recognised defense of government mandated territorial borders. my point was more that of all the 'stans' - recognised or accepted as well as aspiring or seeking legitimacy - one of the central nodes is tehran - as tehran is the central node of iran, and iran is a central pivot of the region - geographically and historically. so if (IF) the stans - to whatever degree - are going to obtain greater levels of freedom (markets, rights, demographic benefits) then iran is a key node in that calculus. if what they say is true (that the IRI is repressive, autocratic, denies basic freedoms and follows or pursues a doctrine of islam that has an increasingly pernicious effect on its peoples, the 85m or so that live in iran) then that oppression will spill over into neighbouring areas - implicitly and explicitly influencing the stans. a badly run iran is in nobody's interests other than the regime itself and the dictators that feed from it (the usual known suspects)
