@christopherlawrence1185 any problems you got with bills and a cost of living crisis will pale into insignificance if 🇷🇺 get their way

when somebody - with hindsight - doesn't face up to their responsibility and simultaneously maintains a flacid upper lip about 'being in the right' and 'making the right call' (whether they are under oath or regardless) then you have to wonder why the front they're putting up continues. imho it is (admittedly retrospectively) very basic: 1. downing street didn't treat covid with the appropriate level of seriousness. cavalier would be one starting point. blasé another. 2. downing street were too clever by half with their communications (and brexit had already been delivered) 3. downing street engaged in double standards (party inside and lockdown out) - 'do as we say, not as we do' ethos adopted a level of paternalism that still stinks as unpalatable 4. downing street adopted a condescending and insulting attitude in their approach to the public during covid 5. downing street during covid was more about the struggle for power than the responsible exercise of power 6. downing street were caught between the woods of failing to act decisively on the big picture calls and misunderstanding or not understanding the trees of detail (at least in comms terms) and henceforth blundering ineptitude was the hallmark of decisionmaking competence 7. covid placed downing street on the backfoot as the triumphalist ego of brexit was checked 8. covid exposed downing street as a cabinet of incompetent fakin' it fraudsters, out of their depth, inappropriately placed (given scale) and out of touch with reality when it was needed 9. downing street fudged it as c.232,000 died

what was the cost of this two hour production? did it exceed its budget? was everybody on set content with the finished product? was the script ok?

if you didn't understand just how corrupted the system you lived within was until the glimpse of an alternative (1991 - 2023) was shown only to be denied through takeover (2014) and invasion (2022) then you would be faced with a choice: submit or die; fight or fight.

drop me out the police function is to arrest. the police arrest to charge. the charge is for prosecution. the intent of a prosecution is a guilty verdict. police as benevolent psychiatrists? why not ask your lawyer to be an electrician and see how many lightbulbs get changed? what could possibly go wrong?

@paulthomas-hh2kv prices for democracy include openness and transparency whereas a central advantage of authoritarianism is secrecy.

dictators always build a closed version of reality - with them or against them. you're either on the outside looking in or you're on the inside. if you're on the inside you have to accept the dictator's version of reality. the test of a dictator's strength is how strong your version of reality really is.
