mostly lost in translation - american left is british conservative and neil is an antagonist because that's his ratings / viewings ticket. shapiro wasn't wrong and wasn't humiliated, he was just not used to the waters that neil was at home in. british journalism has a tendency to gravitate towards needle and rile tactics and then snipe using micro phrases and terminology. its not constructive, its semantic one-upman ship and neil plus morgan (notably) plus the red rag top press (inc. mail online) are most excellent at turning serious issues into petty annoyances that create emotive and tautological whirlpools. a talent for making fights from squabbling. way to go guys.
