  1. the GWOT has roughly seen a sixfold increase in US debt over approximately two decades. yet it is non-defense spending hit by the freeze... which must mean: 1. that defense spending continues to be bipartisan due to a coming clash with the PRC; 2. that the USA simply cannot afford (financially and ethically) to reconcile its global / international footprint with its domestic politics; 3. that Russia's bluff call on Ukraine (post 22nd Feb 2022) is not something that Republicans and Democrats ultimately want to risk the American people over a game of chicken for; 4. that the Republican control over defense budgets is more significant than might otherwise be given credit for, even if Democrat-backed personnel continue to maintain significant sway and influence; 5. that, with Russian Federation betting against sovereignty (in favour of authoritarianism, brutality, cruelty and dictatorship) as a principal component of world order the GWOT now has a maximum of 24 months to expire; 6. all of the above; 7. something else.
