  3. you are taking the word nothingness too literally.. "Nothingness" is just a bunch of letters in order that label its meaning. Those letters doesn't have any meaning by itself. It could have been labeled as "lifeless" or "timeless" it doesn't mean that science think it has anything to do with life or time whatsoever. It's just awkward name. We don't actually know what it is but we have to call it somehow, if you have a better idea make a suggestion to the ones who can change english language. The same way The Earth is The Earth instead of The Water which would be more suitable name because there is 79% of water on The Earth. It doesn't make sense but sometimes you just have to deal with names.

  6. It doesn't have purpose for you as an individual person, but you have to look at things from bigger perspective. We have purpose on the scale of human as a species. How could you possible know that humans will go extinct? That's the point, you don't know. You are part of a evolution that tries to explore the universe and essentially become immortal... Our curiosity is pushing us forward. Maybe it's possible to go through wormhole and go to parralel universe and then you can relive all moments again. You can't possibly know, That's why we live. To know what we can do and what we can't, and along the line to become immortal. You just have crappy life and no one took care of you experiencing world in right way. i enjoy life. There are so many interesting things to do and explore. Psychology is very interesting to me, as well as science... have fun in life and make a child. In future they will know more than we do so let them deal with that problem. Simple as that.

  7. Mr. Note on the individual level there is no point of anything.. but in the group as a species we do have purpose, that's our point to make sure our species surivive. The way i deal with it is through emotions, through laugh to be more precise. Laugh is my life.. make sure you and people around you lough and you will have purpose. Emotions are so strong that we can forget about everything in that moment. When you have time of your life and you think about death, it's just doesn't matter.. you don't care. so, for me, that's the way to go. Laugh and experiencing everything, just to make sure i don't miss on anything. I am not going to delude myself thinking there is greater purpose of our life. We live shortly and our contribution to the society is everything we can do so let's be it.

It makes everything pointless, doesn't it? Why do it today when you will be able to do it tomorrow or day after or for thousands of years from today.

  18. Spotted. Fun and humor is what i am living for (plus few other things) I found impossible to care about purpose of life when i am laughing my ass of. I tried but when you are laughing and have a time of your life with buds or girl or family, you just don't care about the fact in 100 years you won't be there anymore. You are in the moment, you are happy.... that's my way to go, my goal. Be in the moment, make myself and people around me, that i care about, laugh.

Mr. Note because it is.. life as a life is pointless, i completely agree on that part, but you can still find your purpose making it not fully pointless and making your life happy, which is basically ultimate goal. It's apstract way of thinking. On the scale of universe everything is pointless. On the scale of emotions, life has a purpose. Think of it this way. Think of the thing that gives you the most pleasure. For me it's comedy and football. So what is the point of playing football? The point is to feel satisfication, to feel that pleasure and when you hit that state it makes you life pointful. You just ended "circle of purpose". maybe completing those cricles is pointless, but at least you will die as a happy man. That's the thing with emotions, they are so strong that they make point themself. I always say "think big, live small" refering to that. Think about universe, religion, psychology, history, AI, whatever you find the most intriguing, but live so that small things make you happy. The situation we are in is not ideal, but why don't we get most out of the life we live in? You never know, science might actually catch up with us so that we become immortal.

  20. sean barry no i don't. Believing in God because it is just weak, you are weakling. Just deal with it !!! I am gone die, you are going to die, who cares, it's not like we have a choice of not dying, then why stress about it? Life after our own death is not something we can comprehend so it's pointless to try to, isn't it? the fact we are going to die makes everything just a tad bit more precious, doesn't it? You know you are not going to live forever, so why would you wanna waste the time you have left?

  21. sean barry okay so it's pointless.. so now you can either bitch about the life being pointless till you die or you can simply experience and enjoy whatever is coming in your life and not worry about your death because it's not going to influence your life whatsoever. You have a lot to think about. Think about how you can contribute to humanity via things you truely love to do. It won't make your life pointful, but it will make it fullfilled and happy.

  23. what is the point/goal in football? Only goal in football is to win thropy which is set by human. Does lack of natural purpose of football makes football any less entertaining to you? No, you still love every bit of it. The same works for life in general, you set the goals and live happily ever after. You shouldn't be concerned about pointless of life on individual basis. ... About contribution to humanity: The first of all we don't know what could and what will happen. Maybe we become immortal, there are literally no limits in life, everything is possible, we don't even know what's possible. Only way to find out is by keep improving science. if you are not a genius yourself who can directly influence our improvment, at least be inspiration. They are countless of ways to do that (from being a great teacher, to being a good person in general) For me, being inspiration for others is one of the most important things in my life and definitely the best way for me to contribute to humanity in general. Don't ever understimate power of inspiration, everybody has to be inspired by someone even the greatest scientists of all time,.. read long time ago that Tesla got some idea on the river by observing some random guy.. That random guy is not even aware of his influence he had on human histoyr. Isn't it inspiring that YOU, a single person who is part of something so huge (part of species that tries to survive in infinte universe) can actually easily change the course of human history? Especially now, in era of internet, now easier then ever Live happy life on individual scale, inspire people on the scale of humanity. You are part of something huge and very rare in universe. What more can you ask for?

  28. SirReptitious how can you give me an example with something that human create. There is a law that says we must not do that. Also if you really want to know why we don't go on killing spree is because we have empathy INBORNED in us. So basically same thing as inborned ability to procreate. It's actually opposite example from what you are trying to say So i guess because our mind says that is wrong, we should actually do it because we have control over our instincts. just because it feels wrong doesn't mean it's wrong. So i guess we have to go in killing spree. That's what you are saying actually.... give me an example in universe that make sense like that.
