When I was in school in the early 1950's the schools sold us saving stamps for 10 cents to be glued in a leaflet. When filled you could turn it in for a Savings Bond to be redeemed years later. I still have an unfilled leaflet somewhere. No telling how many were left unfilled?? So the government kept this extra money.

@focus2166 Back then, we had a hard time getting a dime. It usually came from our parents, maybe. But, I guess that you could say that we children were used. It did make us feel patriotic.
