Now that Boris's deal is in place and UK exports now cost up to 40% more than before Brexit was 'done', resulting in overseas companies looking elsewhere, it would be really interesting to know what cost this loss of income is having on the UK economy and is it actually costing more than Boris's lie that we send the EU £350m a week! The EU was nearly 50% of our export market. Boris and his Brexit Party have put up barriers to this trade. Even if all the 'pie in the sky' trade deals with countries like the USA (4% of our export market) for example came off, even disregarding the geography, we would never replace what we once had.

With the money you pay you get access to numerous benefits, which among other things includes funding to poor regions (Cornwall got £100 million from the EU, all which now has to come from the UK itself), but more importantly, access to the EU single market. The economic benefits from being part of the single market outweighs the costs, but now the UK has to deal with the consequences of the stupidity of leave voters who failed to recognize that. Also when I say "the British empire dead in the water", I implicitly mean that the UK isn't that small at all, just not big and economically strong enough to strongarm the other 27 nations combined in the union - the UK doesn't even have a bigger GDP than Germany alone. The idea that it somehow were is delusion but that's probably what a lot of people in the UK, especially England thought. However, the UK has an economy that is comparable to that of France and thus was a net contributor to the union, but again, the benefits from the union were bigger than the drawbacks.

It's more like 10% for Brexit1, 15% for Brexit 2, and 27% for the Brexit promised by Gove and Bojo (no leaving the Single Market or the Customs Union). So the best the leavers can manage is 27%/48%. So they actually lost the referendum. Who knew?

It’s still a problem except the UK no longer has the benefit of leveraging the whole EU. Simple principles of negotiation would suggest that any trade deal the UK might agree is likely to far less beneficial than any they could have agreed as part of the EU. Are these people stupid? So Australia is the one we didn't need a trade deal with and India we do! But this is what happens when ideology trumps practicality. Also India have demanded greater mobility of workers with most countries as part of potential trade deals, they have never budged on that!

U.K. will be the only large economy in Europe without a gigafactory and missing out on automotive fundamental strategic shift towards EV. This sounds an awful lot like tax avoidance and is supposed to a criminal offence. I've seen no news that there will be charges brought, possibly on the basis that he's a rich Tory member of the government.

  41.  @stalinisaracist4351  I remember reading an article It was described, how car manufacturing worked in the EU, with car parts crossing the borders in the EU, when UK was still a member, and how that would change after brexit, regarding the UK being a third state. One of the points was , that the supply chains would be broken, and that delivering just in time would be disrupted. It was of course called by Brexiter's project fear. Now its project reality.

  46.  @nigeljohnson9820  It's really strange that so many politicians are so afraid of telling the British people that when you cut ties with your largest trade partner, there will be an extra cost doing that. Even with the best possible Brexit agreement with EU, the fact remains to be that The UK is outside the single market and as such will have to trade with EU on the basis of being a third country which means all British goods being exported to EU will be more expensive when finally arriving in EU countries (less competitive pricing) and the whole process of importing and exporting will be much more expensive compared to when UK was an EU member. There are also added pains because The UK no longer has free access to cheap labor from EUs eastern European countries. There is really no reality in which UK could have benefited from leaving EU.

The only benefits were for the likes of rees-mogg who didn't want to loose his tax haven benefits, and if memory serves me he moved his business to Dublin, which surprise surprise is in Europe. There are no benefits for the majority of people in the UK. I don't think my kids and generations yet to come are ever going to forgive 2016 referendum result.
