Comments by "" (@LimeyRedneck) on "I'm British but the Home Office made me stateless" video.
@johng.1703 The Home Office shouldn't be working on assumptions. If they had considered the evidence and determined that Angela was stateless that's not an assumption. Another commentator (Gabriel Jones) has said that Angela still has route(s) to citizenship and references an update of July 2022. At the end of the day Angela has done nothing wrong and IF she legally isn't eligible for British citizenship that only further proves that the law isn't fit for purpose.

@johng.1703 You may be correct, however I don't recall Angela's brother's age being mentioned. The early 1980's were decades ago, not hundreds of years ago. (The Home Office referred to the British Nationality Act.) The Home Office should look at Angela's case, properly... assuming she has Malawi citizenship clearly demonstrates that they have yet to do so.

@johng.1703 Maybe we should agree to differ about how The Home Office should do their job, or even if they are. No-one should be in Angela's position and I don't believe it's her parent's fault either. Angela has a nascent career, with an opportunity to travel and the government_law is very silly, while being cruel.

@johng.1703 Now you're the one making assumptions. Why assume ignorance when incompetence/ malice could be the explanation. I haven't liked the undercurrent to your replies, even less so now. Bye 🤠💜

@johng.1703 I did use the word 'position,' but about Angela's situation. I repeat: The Home Office should work cases, not work from assumptions. July 2022, the 1980s and all dates between when the laws have changed are not a very long time ago. But let's say that we can trace some relevant law back unchanged to the 1600s, it doesn't change what I said. Let's say Angela's parents could, but didn't prevent her being in this situation? Do any of us know why?.. Could it be they were misinformed by a government worker about the matter? In summary: If the bottom line is the only line, it makes no sense to treat Angela this way, especially as she could generate a lot of money for the UK's GDP. A young person who's lost both their parents starting out in their career - Angela's treatment stinks!!! You've been polite although we've disagreed. However I don't wish to repeat myself again. Take care 🤠💜

@lavienestpasunlongfleuvetr2559 I've read all of your comments and I'll take them at face value, although I was never concerned about Angela's parent's marital status. I'm in the camp of from what you've outlined The Home Office followed the rules and it's not good enough/ fair. I hope that you're correct when you say she'll likely be granted citizenship. However from what Angela said she's having problems doing so 🤠💜
