The 1970s has been used to attack the very idea of unions and I agree with Ava - so many people hate unions because of that and weren't even alive then. Maybe the unions were corrupt, but that's not the same as asking what did the unions ever do for us? Weekends and a forty hour week are increasingly becoming a memory for many - hell, having an hour for lunch is rare. At least one state in the US has been pushing for (maybe passed) a law that 'allows' children to work. Maybe that will be a recycled idea for the Tories (as they're so green) sending kids down the pits again - as long as it's clean coal though as described by Drumpf!

Speaking of blackouts: California, the richest state in one of the richest countries in the world had rolling blackouts because the cost of electricity was too expensive. Not due to unions, but the panacea of deregulation and the rational, free hand of the market. Tell me, how much growth is possible with the lights out?
