If you had a sheath knife with a stag horn handle, you were king of the hill! The cheap ones from the army stores only had pressed steel handles! Most lads carried them, as they were useful for making catapults and bows and arrows etc, as well as playing the game mentioned by Simon. . .we used to call it stretch though.
