  1. I always recall a documentary on t.v. and members of a tribe in Africa being interviewed about their discovery of a star accompanying Sirius, which is in fact Sirius 'B'. This is not visible without a sizeable telescope, so how they knew about it remains a mystery. I believe that the idea must have been put into their heads by someone and it had evolved into a fact!!
