A certificate is required in Northern Ireland and I believe, in Scotland now. There's said to be four million in the British isles altogether. Incidents of crimes involving air weapons are very rare, compared to those committed by football 'fans'. I have been a member of a Field target club for thirty years now and still enjoy the sport. It was even featured in the press until the Hamilton business cast a shadow on all who take part in shooting of any kind and it became non p.c. overnight

The gentry could never be expected to surrender their shotguns, now would they?? 🤔

I understood that the chief constable was pensioned off without a lot of publicity at the time. He was responsible for granting Hamilton his continued gun ownership, despite his questionable behaviour. 🤔

Was it Malcolm McDowell that starred in it? I remember that it was based around a public school. I thought it was a fantasy that firearms were kept at these places, but apparently the kids were encouraged to join the ACF and eventually gain a commission with the army.

Once airguns are licenced in England it will be an easy task to reel the owners in and confiscate their weapons if banned. Only the lawless will keep theirs of course, just as the villains do now, that carry unlicenced guns.

The foreign lorries entering the country every day could have firearms hidden quite easily from the countries where they are commonplace. Find the right driver at a motorway services, pay them the right money and you have your weapon!!

If the low life's that broke into Tony Martin's property had been armed with knives and he wasn't armed, the outcome could have been different. Those thieves deserved what they got!! 🤔
