That's just it. Feminism was all about men and women being *equal*. It was about standing side-by-side, working together for common goals, and appreciating that the differences between genders are no different than the differences between individuals; and as individuals we each have something we are best at. And definitely the feminist movement back then was about no longer being or acting like victims, but to be in full control of your own life. Another important thing to remember is that, even though it was called "feminist", the movement was about moving beyond the stereotypes for women AND men. These days we've regressed, in both feminism and racial relations. Ans it seems like it really started during Bill Clinton's administration.
