  1. Up here in New York we have our own infestation; Japanese Knotweed. Maybe we should start looking into it for biofuel as well. But as for cultural references; in earlier versions of Red Hat Linux, the hardware detection tool was called "kudzu". I don't know if it's still in the newer RH/Fedora/CentOS versions.

  2. I've wondered if kudzu is what's been growing along nearly ALL our highways in New York (and the highway departments aren't even trying to clear it out). And then there's Japanese Knotweed.
