  1. The problem is, as political interests change over the years and the decades, any particular county's political alignment can change. So merely moving your county to a different state will not be a permanent fix. What I'm thinking is specific state and federal offices should be chosen in an electoral-like system. The offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, etc should be totalled *by county*, and then the election goes to the candidate who wins the majority of counties. The same goes for electing US Senators; tally votes by county. The big population centers will still be served by their Congressional District representative, so they still have fair coverage. I'm talking about doing this for ALL states. In fact, as I understand it NY City is actually five counties, so even in a county-oriented election system they get five votes, it's more than fair. The idea is to prevent the population centers from being the ONLY ones with the power.
