  1. The Republicans put him up for Governor even knowing he would lose the election, just because they wanted him in position for Republican Party Chair, and he ended up turning THAT down anyway. Republicans in NY are about as unreliable as the Democrats are corrupt. They could have worked out a deal with Larry Sharpe for a cross-party campaign, and had a chance to win the election. But they were perfectly happy to sacrifice NY State.
