The big problem is so many items I'd buy are not available locally, and in fact have become pretty much unavailable anyplace else (unless you want to risk buying from the questionable suppliers on Ali Express). Makes you miss stores like RadioShack (before they became little more than a crappy cellphone store) or if you go further back there was Lafayette Electronics. I'd rather buy from DigiKey, Granger, Harbor Freight, etc, but even with them there's a lot of assorted parts I haven't found alternative sources for. But I keep looking every time I need something.
