That was the comment I wanted to make too. The main reason it was an issue was because there were systems (not just computer programs, but lots of control systems) where we didn't know how a system handled dates. And if it couldn't handle a century rollover, what would be it's failure mode. Or even would there be a failure, rather than just limping along. So whatever could be checked was checked, whatever could be fixed was fixed, and sometimes it was seen as an opportunity to replace/update old systems. The problem was seen, and the problem was addressed.

It all depends on where you are getting your music from. In the 70's I was listening to the prog-rock station out of Montreal, in the 80's it was the underground punk/new wave, later it was Belgian Techno and techno-punk, and these days it's Vocaloid and the Japanese indie/doujin music. Never have run out of decent music to listen to, I've just known that the Top-40/Billboard 100 were never going to be a reliable source of decent music.

I should know by now saying "SNL" and "funny" are entirely opposite terms.

1:26 I had gone to an estate sale on the opposite side of town. I noticed at the house had a lot of passenger ship memorabilia, and I wondered what business the owner had been in. All I found I could make use of was a Mac keyboard for my daughter's iMac. Then the next day my brother sent me a link for an article about the estate sale. Yep, then I knew why they had all the ship memorabilia. I don't think I'll tell my daughter whose house it was from.

I'm surprised Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid wasn't in this list.

@latinoheateddieguerrero7644 Ha. When those groups were out, I was listening to Lords of Acid, KMFDM, Nitzer Ebb, etc.

Not denying your experience, but not the impression I had gotten of him. I would see him at Lunacon every year, on a couple occasions acting as assistant for him at autograph sessions. He was a definite flirt, which I expect would have been severely frowned upon in present-day conventions (I never saw him pushing himself on anyone, so don't get the wrong impression there either). I just finished re-reading the Foundation Trilogy, and while I could point out a handful of flaws (as you likely can with any classic work of fiction), and could see the particular biases of the time it was written, it's still an amazing work, and I don't think I could ever be that good (certainly not as prolific)

I agree, the "SOS Brigade" is definitely #1, but really, setting the "Light Music Club" as anything less than #2 is just plain wrong. The rest of the list can be in any order, doesn't much matter.

Sure, bunch of arrogant leftists didn't like Rosanne Barr speaking her mind. Bunch of whiney babies.

Encarta????? Come on, folks, ***Infopedia***!!!!! Infopedia had a whole lot more reference books in it than Encarta. All tightly squeezed onto a 700MB CD.

Wait, these are all in English (or at least some approximation of English for the hip-hop videos)? Don't think I've listened to English-language music for quite a while now.

Seriously??? You must have had this list reversed if you stuck Miku at #10. Although if you were doing 10->1 as best->worst, Gorillaz would have rated 8 or 9. But rating Miku at the bottom is absolutely wrong. As for the Daft Punk film, remember it was supervised by the master himself. Leiji Matsumoto. You should be honoured Matsumoto-san graced your list.
