  1. ThinkPad P50, the same laptop I use for work (I've intentionally been avoiding getting a laptop refresh since I know the replacement laptop would have a smaller screen, fewer ports, and neither of my external monitors have HDMI). A laptop refresh would actually be a step down for me.

  2. I am in the process of refurbishing a 2010 27" iMac. The only repair I had to do with it was to replace the memory (the system wouldn't boot, the beep code told me it was a memory problem). I installed memory I had on hand (from upgrading a couple MacBooks of the same vintage) and it started right up. And this iMac cost me all of $12.49 plus tax (yes, under thirteen dollars). And do you know what has been the hardest, most time-consuming part of refurbishing it? Finding a usable copy of MacOS (trying to get it to High Sierra) that I can get to install!!! The Internet Installer process no longer works, since Apple seem to have removed High Sierra from their install/upgrade servers. Bootable USB? Even downloaded directly from Apple's own webpage on creating bootable images, the files come up as damaged (that's over multiple tries, using a MBP as well as through Linux, multiple USB sticks, etc). Apple, just PROVIDE A STRAIGHTFORWARD IMAGE FILE!!!! Even Microsoft can manage to do that. And the ONLY reason I need to install High Sierra is to upgrade the firmware. After that I can install with Catalina Patcher or OpenCore Patcher.
