  1. As much as I think Apple may often be douchebags, from a legal standpoint I'd say the licensing fees need to be paid against the components *themselves*, and not the end product. It would be like charging more for the same exact halogen headlight bulb because you're installing it in a new Mercedes-Benz than you'd charge for one installed in a used Ford Focus. Much as it would nice to stick a heavy load of karma on Apple, Qualcom's pricing schedule sets a bad precedent. Would much prefer to challenge Apple on their own particular offences (and set proper precedent there as well).
