What I would like is for Gnome to STOP destroying GTK+ for every other project. You like that abomination known as "modern look"? Keep it within your OWN project. You like those horrid "Header bars" that tries to replace multiple functions and does ALL of then very badly? Keep it in your OWN project. You dislike theming, properly defined and differentiated titlebars, window borders, etc? Keep that in **YOUR OWN PROJECT**!!!!! STOP screwing up libraries and UI systems simply because you're too LAZY or too INCOMPETENT to restrict those changes to YOUR OWN DESKTOP. At this stage every other GTK+ project is going to have to abandon GTK+ and migrate over to CTK.

I think Whitespace would be an even better language. You could even interleave it with your C code.

So to document these functions, etc, does one have to be a kernel developer (or even a developer at all) to create the documentation? It could be a way for non-developers to contribute.

Are you saying they KILLED the filesystem? I mean it was really a killer filesystem... (all respects to Nina Reiser, who deserved better.)

I don't even know why someone would bother running Linux on a MacBook. It's a grossly overpriced machine that is severely locked down. The memory is welded to the motherboard. The storage is welded to the motherboard. You can't upgrade it. You can't repair it. The components are serialized to each other so you can't even replace parts even IF you can find them. Use hardware that is more open, more repairable and more upgradable.

@nathsabari97 I'd like to see IBM buy it. That way under IBM's management Chrome would be dead in two years

We're talking about the modern-day Mozilla. So the saying about "you know what happens when you 'assume'" applies here.

That's a capital offence in the GNOME community.

The GNOME folks already hate me (at least the miniscule sub-percentage that have heard of me). Including some GNOME developers from my former job.

Don't really care about *G*TK5. What I want to see is **C**TK5. CTK is designed to REMOVE and UNDO all the user-hostile, malicious and intentional BREAKAGE in GTK+ as introduced by the GNOME Project. GNOME can go off and do whatever obnoxious things they like to do, and all the other currently-GTK-based projects can move to CTK and undo all the GNOME crap.

He wanted to allow users to theme their desktops

Korea invading and taking over Japan, calling it "East Korea"? Probably the best to use as an example as it would never happen (the only post-invasion Japan name I've heard of is "Area 11"). There IS the example some of us use just to piss off the CCP; replace ".cn" with ".wt" (presuming that isn't already used) for "West Taiwan". But I'd agree that using the country code TLDs for anything other than domains within that country was always a bad idea, and is already breaking the defined rules. At this point IANA & ICANN have been blatantly ignoring their own rules, so now ANY option is valid.

He was heard suggesting that GNOME should not be turned into a MSWindows-clone.

Might be time to move to Haiku. Although I think some of the disgusted Linux developers who want to walk away from it for a while could go over and help the ReactOS project.

So it's about as useful as a product search on Amazon. It's bad that even AI can't give us search results anywhere as useful as what we used to get in 2005 with your bog-standard web search. I guess we're needing "artificial intelligence" because there's such a severe lack of the real thing.

@paulie-g There was a similar saying in science fiction fandom; "if two science fiction fans meet, they'll search for a third member so they can have a schism and form TWO science fiction clubs"

The only version of "AI" I want to see on my Mozilla-based browser is when I watch a live music video for "Ai Dee"...

I used to have one of those Model-M keyboards with the 24 F-keys. My guess is that Shift-Super(Win)-F24 is probably bound to Microsoft Recall

@VallThyo I pretty much don't use my bank app at all. If I need any online banking functions, I use my computer. I don't use pay apps either.

@AlexSwanson-rw7cv Oh, I'm sure it exists in the USA. The cell companies here are all dickheads. Including the two that a neighbour up the hill from me used to do commercials for.

Whitelisted phones for your provider? Yeah, I think Crapcast/suXfinity does that. Last year I had looked into switching to XFinity Mobile (since I'm already stuck with them for Internet/VoIP), and they wouldn't support our Motorola phones, and only supported iPhone, Google Pixel, and Samsuck (excuse me, Samsung). I do not like ANY of those options, so if they don't support my chosen phone, I'm not interested in their service. BTW: Is that Frieren and Fern on the shelf behind you?

So are you saying there's a leaky valve???? (I'll see my way out)

I don't know, a keyboard vibration notification might be handy...

I don't see why the Firefox derivatives couldn't set up a "consortium" (probably the wrong term) the same way Chromium-based browsers are setting up now. Have something like a "Zilla-core" project (a name that isn't directly using the Mozilla or Firefox trademarks, but shows obvious heritage) to collaborate on common code. I'd think Thunderbird, Betterbird & Epyrus should be part of "Zilla-Core" as well. The question is where to host it. Sure, GitHub or GitLab would be obvious choices, but might also want to consider Sourceforge & other alternatives as well.

@lucascamelo3079 They'd need to lure away some current core developers (ones that don't like Mozilla's current direction)
1
Can we rewrite it in Mosaic??????? I think they should use CTK rather than GTK+ I think I'll stick with Crossover Office.

This is sounding like Commie-La Harris being anointed as the new Dem candidate despite NONE of the delegates voting for her.
