  1. We had a ceiling-mount Aladdin lamp back in the 1970's, which had once been in a hotel. It had an spring-loaded mount at the ceiling which would let you raise and lower it. And yes, those liquid-fuel lanterns (and campstoves too) were always a pain to set up, an you had to pressurize them with a crude plunger pump. Dad could make it work, I don't think I ever did.
