  1.  @MilesPrower1992  Well, in the mid 90's when I worked at a multimedia software company, we were still using 650MB CD-Rs, because 700MB disks weren't available yet. Then we got some boxes of the new 700MB disks at $20 each (yes, twenty bucks for one CD-R). Years later I found I had a couple of them, and you couldn't write any faster than 4x onto them . Ended up using them up for firmware update disks.

  2. I do recall there being some earlier DVD video players that would only read one "format" and not the other. As ours was a Toshiba, probably DVD-R?
