  1. American founding principles were based on the Enlightenment principles of Britain. I’d love a video on how this shaped our US constitution. That’s one reason I love British history, it’s also the history of America, to a certain point in time. And, although we absorbed influences from many other cultures, our roots remain British.

I don’t know if you know this, or if it’s commonly known in Britain, but the Declaration of Arbroath, among other English and Scottish historical acts, of course, was intently studied and considered in the framing of our US founding documents, from the Declaration of Independence onwards to the Constitution. Ancient Athenian Democracy and the Roman Republic were also considered in these studies. The rebels, were, of course, well-educated Englishmen.
