@robertpreskop4425 living in California as a moderate , it's a bit of a mess, the liberals tax everything and spend every dime and now have taxpayers funding almost 100 million for illegals health benefits, ( better benefits than done of us have) illegals free college, but won't give veterans kids free college or properly fund mental health. Anytime a political party has too much control without a vocal 2nd party with some power to keep extremist from messing everything up. We now have the countries largest gas tax too. 3 years ago, the people voted, to keep capital punishment, including some liberals and democrats, our new Govenor while running, said he would not go against the vote of the people but a month after getting in office, he stopped it. California does not just put everyone on trial for murder up for capital punishment, has to be a really awful crime. There is no chance, now days, that some innocent person would get mistakenly convicted. It's still a nice place, but business is moving out, and the middle class taxpayers, as they retire is moving out in large numbers because of the taxes

@lired70 they did investigate the car, they also didn't own the car, it was leased to the Government cheaply by Ford, which is why they have the car, they also paid for the redo. Again you are forgetting this was 1963, and would take a year and half to build a new one, this was redo was done in 5 months, , everything else they had was old, this was the newest Limo in the garage and they needed a safe car quickly for the President to ride in, while another one was being built , I think it was a 1965 Lincoln Continental .

yes, I finally let my Motor Trend go, nothing in it that interested me anymore . Sometimes though, Automobile was OK
I understood what you meant, the more I thought about it,on the 63 Olds 98, the white one I rode home from School in a lot, was a nice looking car, it replaced her ( my friends Moms light green 62 Olds 98 that I thought was really prettier than the white 63. A friend of theirs was trading in the 63 Olds on a new Lincoln in 64 and his Dad , a local Dentist, ran over there and turned in the 62 on it as he liked that car. Funny thing was another couple from our neighborhood, bought that 62 Olds from the Lincoln Dealer and drove it for years, liked it so well, they bought a new 69 or 70 Olds 98, but kept the 62 also

If I had a 62 or 63 Lincoln, I would want black and gold plates, but only then. I don't know if you remember, new cars in 69 had black plates, new cars in 1970 had blue plates. Funny story, my parents bought a year old 69 Buick Electra Limited, and it had blue plates, the car had been bought new in Jan 1970. 4 years later, I had saved my money, and bought a used 1970 Riviera, in March of 1974, it had black plates, as the car was bought new in Nov 1969

@eddie-nc8gu I bought a Sport T model last year , white with grey interior, has navigation, heated seats runs on reg gas, no turbo, but took it on 3 trips, live in NorCal and drove to Yosemite , Palm Springs, Southern Oregon 3 different trips never had a issue over mountains . I like the fact I have a key and I like the buttons, was looking for a Cadillac ATS and couldn't find one with low miles in my price range so I started looking at Verano's and found this one at a local used car dealer with 20K on it and on special for $14,495. So far I have put 10K on it this last year, its a nice car, Im happy with it.

Jeeze, didn't know that, I have a 3.5 GM engine now and its over 130K and running great. I noticed they were using the 3.0 on the CTS later. The old Buick V6 was very good and I thought it was a 3.6.
Yes you should have gotten the Northstar, I had a 96 that the previous owner did the bottom seal, and I changed the oil frequently and loved it. They do use oil, about a qt between changes. It had Lots of power and made that big Deville fun to drive. I was driving 4 kids to school and had a elderly Mom and that car held everyone, it was a great car for me at the time. On the freeway on trips, that big car got 26 and 27 MPGS, but around town not so good
I heard they had that Northstar seal issue beefed up by 2000 as they had redone the engine to run on reg gas, mine needed premium , I remember I used to get gas for it at Sams Club
Merry Christmas

@johndavis9321 have you looked up Flint, no it doesn't, the whole city is bad, believe it or not, Stockton is not anywhere near as bad as Flint, and only bad in the bad area's. I have been to many parties at the Country club on the Delta, , there is a Mercedes Benz, Cadillac, and Lincoln dealer, all in Stockton, as I said, there is a lot of money living there, the bad area's started getting that way about 15-18 years ago, with cheap rents and Oakland area people started moving there. It's only bad in bad area's, there is even a Dillard's department store in the mall, not Kmart and Walmart

showlogicprod Design
The Avanti was developed at the direction of Studebaker president, Sherwood Egbert. "The car's design theme is the result of sketches Egbert "doodled" on a jet-plane flight west from Chicago 37 days after becoming president of Studebaker in February 1961."[10] *Designed by Raymond Loewy's team of Tom Kellogg, Bob Andrews, and John Ebstein on a 40-day crash program, the Avanti featured a radical fiberglass body mounted on a modified Studebaker Lark Daytona 109-inch convertible chassis and powered by a modified 289 Hawk engine.
In eight days the stylists finished a "clay scale model with two different sides: one a two-place sports car, the other a four-seat GT coupe."[11] Tom Kellogg, a young California stylist hired for this project by Loewy, "felt it should be a four-seat coupe."[11] "Loewy envisioned a low-slung, long-hood/short-deck semi-fastback coupe with a grilleless nose and a wasp-waisted curvature to the rear fenders, suggesting a supersonic aircraft."[12]
*His team designed it, there are other writings that tell that Lowey came and check up on their progress occasionally.
I really think he had a bit less to do with it than you think he did
2
-
showlogicprod he owned his own home in Palm Springs, half the time he was not in Palm Springs, but people who were there , in the rented house, said he showed up once in a while to check how they were doing. Have you not read in car mags etc, about this, the guys designed the car, were the only people in the house, and Loewy was not staying in this house with them. What I am telling you is old news, you evidently are the only person who doesn't know this. Again, this all came out years ago, but since the car isn't made anymore most people today ,don't care. When one of the design guys that was in the house died a few years ago, there was a write ups on him in a car mag, not sure which ones, but I got Motor Trend and also Car and Driver about that time

@johnmckee6483 I've lived in northern California all my life, actually I'm 4 generation, and I'm now retired, my retirement isn't taxed because because it falls under a certain threshold, my property taxes are grandfathered prop 13, and I live pretty well, I'm not going anywhere and don't believe what your sil said,
it's definitely in the USA.
My cousin retired in NW Arkansas, she said groceries were higher than California, and the winter was so bad and icy she was housebound about 2 months a year.
California property tax is a lower percentage taxed than most states around us, the people who have high taxes have a million dollars plus home, I don't, but I have a nice house

believe it or not, Macy's is actually in pretty good shape, they bought out May Company in 2005 and Broadway stores in 1995, and they got a lot of older stores that they no longer need and are no longer profitable ,which is why they are closing them. Macys and Penney's closing some of these unprofitable stores just improves their bottom line. Department stores used to, years ago, keep these stores for a Tax write off , but in today's taxes, they don't need that so they close what they no longer need or want to keep open. I saw where Sears is closing in the Brea, Ca Mall and so is Macy's, so that Mall must be dead and the stores are likely from the 60's and they have been running some of them as clearance centers and those Malls will disappear like they should

A few years back, I went somewhere, and saw a old friends Special licence on a Mazda or something, ( it as getting dark) anyway, when I saw her, I told her I saw her plates, is that your new car, and she said yes, its a Infinity. Boy was I glad I didn't say Mazda
Yeah they all look alike. I do like the new CTS and ATS Caddys , you know what they are when you see them, plus I like them

I was in a Chevy Astro Van, I did get it below 75, got on the paved shoulder that was wide and straight, ( which is why I did it there) put it in Neutral, foot on the brake and turned it off and put both hands on the steering wheel. I didn't turn the wheel even a bit held it tight and the car rolled to a stop, no issues , I got the car stopped, and the steering wheel DIDn't lock , I don't know where you got you info, but when I did it , it worked for me. The car had full power, including brakes and Steering, . You can can also put your car into Neutral , the engine will race, but would you rather be dead or replace a engine? What I did caused no issues with the car, I messed around with it and discovered the floor mat had caused it and pulled it out and all was well and my son and I continued to where we were going. The car was getting pretty old but still running great with 200K on it , and we drove it 8 more months till we found a slightly used Suburban

me too, had much better luck with GM cars, owned a 92 Sable and a 2003 Escape and both cost me a bundle to keep running. My drove my 77 Buick for years, had a 90 Astro Van with a 4.3, that run over 200K had a 96 Deville for some years, loved it, also a 2000 Suburban that my exwife is still driving, but I'm driving a 2009 Impala now and I have about 135K on it and its still running great, plan on driving it a couple more years and then give it to my son. Thinking about a ATS Cadillac, but I have had such good luck with my Chevys , maybe a Malibu

I bought a 2016 Verano back in Oct 2018, I like it, was looking for a used Cadillac ATS and couldn't find what I was looking for at my price range so I started looking at the Buick Verano, car is nice, does well on the freeway , I have taken it on 3 trips already Yosemite , Palm Springs, and Grants Pass Oregon and it did well, rides well for a smaller car. Mine is kind of loaded, no leather, but it has heated seats, navagation, blue tooth, and backup camera , found a it used with 20K on it and a great price

I love donuts, always have, when my kids were young I never said no To taking them for a donut as i got one too,, sometimes I got sent , and even though they are 19 to 28 I remember, a maple bar, glazed, cake with pink frosting, chocolate cake with frosting and donut holes. My personal favorite now days is a plain cake, it's wonderful with coffee, and grocery store donuts are not as good as the donut shops

the car is still running like a top, the livery trade was putting 500K on Lincoln Town Cars, but I also am sure they had regular service. Your cousin is lucky, I had a Honda Civic some years back and didn't like it at all, actually, having owned one, I feel sorry for anyone who drove one of those 730K. It was the most uncomfortable car I ever owned.
Honestly, I get tired of a car after 6 or 7 years, I really don't want to drive any car that long. My daughter has her aunts old Corolla, I think its a 2003, with about 300K on it, and yes its still running , but she has also had lots of things go out on it like the axel , she was just lucky when it went out she was on a residential street and not the Freeway, she keeps it because its a 5 sp and you cannot find those anymore

@pathtopeaceministry6777 you do realize the policeman who wrote that was later fired, some of the 300 men held Green cards one is a 19 year old who was taking off the street, they were not even looking for him , took him, never let his family know, clean record and he was sent to this prison, another one was taken, clean record his parents are citizens and he was sent to this prison in El Salavdor, this can't be legal, the supreme Court voted 9/0 for due process for all people, these guys didn't get this
