Numbers:
One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve,
Twelve+One, Twelve+Two...
Two×Twelve+One, Two×Twelve+Two...
Etc.
This is a base twelve counting system.
Although it's actually a mixed base since they go to five×twelve, and then its a sixty, or you could call it a minute or an hour or whatever you want.
The thing that throws us off is we are using only ten symbols, which is why I spelled them out, but even so we're using words based on those ten symbols (in english) to explain, and that makes it easy to still be thinking in base ten yourself!
Ever considered why our thirteen is clearly three+ten: th*r*t*n and same for fourteen-nineteen, but eleven isn't oneteen and twelve isn't twoteen?
Because people weren't thinking in base ten, they needed 2 more words!
A dozen, two dozen, three dozen... ...eleven dozen, a gross!
Now that's thinking in base dozen.
